Always been a bit skeptical on GAP insurance, but as this is my first lease I've decided to cover it.

Just done it with ALA, used the piston12 code and had £15k cover with the £2k initial rental cover total cost £131 for the 2 years.

I'm happy to pay that for peace of mind

750 sounds like a lot, seen 4 golf R's and 1 gtd on the 6 mile round trip to pick my son up tonight, they'll never be that bad on our road even with that number

Cheaper from here: http://seat-leon.sgpetch.co.uk/pages/accessories/d...

Those are an official part from seat. My local one man band operation quoted just shy of £100 for painting and fitting. If you have dynamic grey I'd expect a painting quote of triple that.
So £350 supplied, painted and fitted. Not bad at all.

Although, would SEAT would allow these to be fitted with it being a lease?
I've had all the official seat lease info through now and you can modify bit it has to be returned to standard when returned and any holes or fittings repaired

2 weeks in and still taking random photos of it, I do really like this car, it's been a good while since I've had a Sunday drive out and had that nervous excitement in a car

Only cosmetic modifications or can you all make engine modifications like remaps? Does it say if mods affect the warranty?
Here you go

All 3 miles have been great so far! As soon as I got back we had to go out for the day with the kids and the Mrs declined going in the new car. The excitement doesn't seem to be shared in our household! I've got a 240 mile round trip tomorrow though so I'll know more then.
Lol, know what you mean on the lack of excitement, my OH will be the main driver of the car but is more concerned that Monsoon Grey might look like a 'Grandad' colour than the fact she gets to drive a nice shiny new car. Let us know how the 240 mile trip goes!
Mine hasn't reached 240 yet haha

So I had a good 120 mile trip this morning. Seats (no pun intended) and driving position are really comfortable which is great, and that alone makes me pleased I went with this rather than the Golf Gti where I found the seats to be really soft. Steering I found to be a bit twitchy on the motorway, but that might just need a few miles under the belt.

Engine feels really strong though and high-speed refinement is better than I expected.

The one really annoying grip I've got it that I can only seem to enter the first 5 digits of a UK postcode. Anyone know how to add a full 7 digit code?

I heard that this was a problem on older VAG systems but our 2012 Skoda takes the full postcode fine, so really surprised about this.
If you go to enter the Town name, at the bottom left of the keyboard is PTCD (I think) press this and you can enter the postcode.

I'm guessing most of us will have our cars by the end of the year so who's up for a meet in January to compare field notes? I read there's a few from Manchester and there must be some from down south, so perhaps someone in the Midlands? Who's keen?
The Midlands is a little too far for me. I'm in Whitley Bay and on 5k per year, the two don't mix haha
I was going to say non of us have enough miles for a meet lol

I'm certainly up for it, what AJB says though, Leonoc is a really friendly group, it's the only group I follow and contribute to on social media. Some really good helpful people on there

I've checked the service schedule, it says it's long life if you have the PR code ql1 or time/distance ql2 to ql6, mine has non so I'm going on what the car says, currently states 696 days wink

Thanks for checking but I'm dumb and don't understand what you mean by "PR code ql1 or time/distance ql2 to ql6"
The 3 digit codes that refer to options and things on the car

I am new to leasing, what are peoples thoughts on:

1. Alloy wheel cover
2. Scratch and dent cover
3. Key cover

I am going to buy GAP insurance but what about the others?
I wouldn't bother, I looked at the prices and it was really expensive, the end of life costs are quite small apparently from VW finance, Wheels damaged £50, Bumper resprays £150, im sure there is a post on the leasing thread or the Golf R thread where a guy detailed the costs for the damage, it looked cheaper than getting them repaired yourself.

I have got GAP though should it vanish in the night

You just don't need the initial cover, I opted for 15k cover with 2k initial, 131 for the 2 years

I posted the full VWFS damage charge matrix on this thread somewhere within the first few pages. A wheel repair is £36. All prices are very reasonable. I wouldn't waste money insuring everything.
I knew I'd seen it, didn't think it was so close to home biggrin

For those who are still waiting I thought I'd update my experience after week 1.

Overall, very positive I've been impressed by the refinement and high-speed ride for a hot hatch... done 550 miles, mostly motorway and averaged around 30-35mpg which is pretty good for a new engine. I did run it in for first 500 mile (a**l I know!!) which probably helped with that.

The car's got tons of power... almost too much for FWD I reckon. In the wet it wheelspins on 3/4 throttle in 3rd gear! I have been missing the traction of the 911 and when I got back in that on Thursday it did still seem "special" and a different driving experience to the Cupra so I think I'm gonna hang onto it... the mrs won't be impressed!

In the dry though the Cupra's a blast, it's fun balancing on the throttle round long corners and you can really feel the diff tightening the line, locking up for the exit. I'm still not settled on which driving mode I prefer. The noise all the time in Cupra is a bit annoying on the throttle setting so at the moment I'm going Comfort for everything except cupra for steering and diff. High speed stability is more planted than the 911... definitely don't realise how quick you're going.

The steering still feels a bit twitchy at 70-80 on the motorway, don't know if it's just me but either the tracking needs a look or it's really susceptible to picking up grooves etc in the road. I'd be interested to know if anyone else finds this.

The stereo's really good for a standard set-up. In some cars it's awful to encourage you to upgrade (e.g. Mini - terrible standard system) so I was really pleased with this. Sat nav DAB etc. all good to have. I agree with the previous post about the apple car play through - I don't really see what all the excitement is about unless you particularly want to be texting everyone as you drive along.
Thanks for sharing, although nearly a month in mines still only done 300 miles, the fake noise thing means it spends most if its time in comfort when i'm driving it, that wore off really quickly, first weekend I thought it was great now I want to rip the speaker out.

I also agree with the speed thing, in my MK2 you felt you were going fast, this car has much more of a big car feel and the speed climbs up at an alarming rate, I find too if your trying to drive nice and slow it has to be in comfort mode, any other setting creates a surge at the slightest touch of the accelorator
