Quite annoying that you can't fully disable the ESC / traction control. Does anyone else find it makes a really loud banging noise when it kicks in? First time it happened I thought the drive shaft was broken!
You have to do it through the car setting on the screen, I tried launch control with it off the other day and lost most of my tread in a cloud of blue smoke so it definitely turns it off completely, its says Sport setting or Off then you have to reconfirm you are taking it off.I did try it on a trading estate and aborted soon after the car not moving and just wheel spinning

Not really. It's 8.3p/mile and not 7.2p/mile so even if I do 4000 miles over that's only 0.011*4000= £44.
A tank of fuel will be ~£60 and they normally send it quarter full. I'd say that balances the equation quite neatly...
Fair point. Well made.A tank of fuel will be ~£60 and they normally send it quarter full. I'd say that balances the equation quite neatly...

I picked my car up this week and I am very pleased with it. I have only covered 40 miles or so but I am hoping to bond with the car more next week. It feels faster than the Megane RS250 I previously owned due to the power coming in much earlier but I have not had the chance to test the handling properly yet.
I am hearing a lot of hot hatches being stolen, is anyone getting additional security? If so, what?
Gap insurance to cover my initial!!I am hearing a lot of hot hatches being stolen, is anyone getting additional security? If so, what?
Glad you like it, coming from a French car you should be well happy :-)

After hesitating on the Stoneacre deal at £249 and then Jason offering me one at £286 per month I have managed to secure a 5dr from a broker. Just waiting for the finance to go through but I am well pleased. I've had loads of cars but never had a turbocharged petrol so it should be fun. Sold my Chimaera in August so I have missed having something decent to drive.
Have you placed this recently? Seems people are having orders cancelled that have placed in Aug / September, a chap I met a few months ago has had 2 cancelled on him so far, the 1st being ordered directly from dealersimonh9 said:
Anyone who's had their car for a while now have any further thoughts, updates and likes/dislikes?
Reading about other's experiences makes the wait more tolerable!
Had mine just over a month now, it's done 380 miles so far, I really like it, power is immense even though I'm getting used to it.Reading about other's experiences makes the wait more tolerable!
Standard sound be system is really good, seats are really nice
it's unique on the road compared to an R for example.
Interior is really nice at night with all the lights
Launch control noise with the Dsg is awesome!
Bad bits (for me)
Drivers seat is quite high even in lowest position, passenger seat drops much more.
Start stop is not as good as others I've had, slowing down to let a car through past a parked car yesterday and it turned the car off, I was still moving slowly and the steering went solid so when it did restart I was at a funny angle to get passed said car.
I don't think the headlights are as good as in my mk2, they look crisper though
Exhaust note when just cruising is much quieter than my mk2 fr
Sound thingy is annoying in cupra mode
Looks like an FR with bigger wheels
FRs get side skirts!!!! Well the titanium one does
Seems like there is more bad points, but in all honesty they're not that bad, car is lovely, I really enjoy driving it, I'm still looking back at it and taking random photos

Cheers Jon. How do you find the road noise? One of my concerns is that it'll dominate, so I've been looking at what the golf had in terms of sound proofing since that's a relatively quiet car
To be honest it's not a problem, I've got a diesel A5 that runs on 245 section tyres and I'd say that is noisier, this is the first Leon that feels like a quality car if that makes sense, I found the mk2 noisier and made from much cheaper plastics, this car is a really nice place to be, I've done a motorway run too and it was no noisier than my Audi Nickp82 said:

Quick question, whats with the cooling off period wait?
I got my docs by emaail, signed scanned and sent back and picked the car up 3 hours later, why are people waiting 2 weeks?
Apologies if i've missed this in the thread somewhere
It's to do with distance selling, you collected the car in person so distance selling regulations would not have been applicable. I am going to get mine from York myself as I could not put up with another fortnight wait (plus I fancy a good drive back in it)!I got my docs by emaail, signed scanned and sent back and picked the car up 3 hours later, why are people waiting 2 weeks?

Sorted out my insurance today (pleasantly surprised at how cheap it was!).
Have also been investigating GAP insurance (I'm aware of the deal with ALA on here) however I'm totally confused. Some say it's a no brainer just buy it, and others say it's generally not needed for lease cars (this is my 1st lease btw).
Any insight from experienced leasers? Has anyone written off a lease car without GAP and what was your experience?
Cheers.
I brought gap with the excess cover, so if it gets written off I don't have to worry about continuing any payments and I get my initial £2k back.Have also been investigating GAP insurance (I'm aware of the deal with ALA on here) however I'm totally confused. Parents just had a lease on a Kia, done a 1 and 35 deal and when they asked the dealer (Seat and Kia randomly) he said don't worry about gap with a lease car,
Worry for me was car get pinched, insurance pay X amount but vwfs say you owe another X so you need to carry on payments or find the difference, plus losing my initial £2k. For the sake of £130 I feel happier to have it

Good so far, my journey back was mainly M1 so haven't had a chance to test the handling too much yet but I am really impressed with how effortless the car feels.
Do you or anyone else know - is the Soundaktor thingy supposed to sound like a five year old kid blowing raspberries through a broken tannoy system or is mine broken??
Probably the best explanation of the noise Do you or anyone else know - is the Soundaktor thingy supposed to sound like a five year old kid blowing raspberries through a broken tannoy system or is mine broken??
