Whoever it is, then. VW warranty is now dust. beanie is in for a surprise on all manner of fronts.

I was told by vw that the warranty is no longer void due to the work done.

Thinking about it, I was never told the warranty was void, just that the work it needed was not covered as they claimed it was user error.

So as a declaration of honesty, now it's all done,

I came here to ask some expert opinions and hopefully find some other experiences, which I am grateful that there were some of and some were very helpful

I thought piston heads was a community of like minded people out to help others,

What I found was it's actually mostly full of bitter and twisted individuals with nothing better to do than to enjoy other people's misfortunes. We know something has gone inside the engine for no compression

We know an accelerometer positioned somewhere has given an overspeed

If I had rammed it into first or second, I'm gobsmacked there's no signs on the clutch or gearbox, opinions I have sought have suggested they would expect damage in these areas.

I have listened to advice and I am taking it further.

I'm still waiting the outcome of a 'Motor Trade Ombudsman' complaint about VW

I also took a complaint to the 'Financial Ombudsman' about the treatment of my insurance claim.

The insurance reviewed the case and evidence and guess what...

Sorry to those that were enjoying my outlay, I know some took great pleasure in it.

But I have to say, beyond all the abuse there were some top tips and suggestions, which ultimately payed off. For that, I am grateful, as it was comments on here which made me chase the insurance on several occasions and then take it further.

The financial ombudsman governs the insurance industry.

Yes the ombudsman hasn't needed to rule, just the complaint was enough for the insurer to take a look. Resolved. Case closed.

It was covered as accidental damage - at fault.

Intentional damage is not covered

Accidental is, as that's what insurance is for, accidents

The people who put the wrong fuel in are just as stupid as the people who destroy engines, but thankfully for our premiums, one is considerably cheaper than the other to put right. And some ins companies actually cover misfuelling. They don't and shouldn't cover ineptitude behind the wheel.

Perhaps I should drive my car through my living room wall and get my insurance company to pay for a new car, and a new house? What do I have to lose? What should I care if it's moral fraud or not? Why should I take any responsibility for my own actions?

So Im pretty sure this was my first ever 'at fault' claim on my insurance in 20 years of driving.

The industry will have done well out of my premiums to date and made a fortune. And I'm damn sure they will make me pay in my future premiums for my 1 claim in 20 years.

I'm sure from your response you have never ever made an 'at fault claim' on your insurance. I suppose you never will need to either???
