Insane S8 Lease Deals!!

On paper they may be similar, but in 'feel' and character there is no similarities at all. The M5 was a genuine sports saloon that could make any journey into an event and that could soothe or scare you equally as easily. The S8 is just very fast and luxurious, but apart from getting from A to B very quickly, I wouldn't say its sporty at all.
It is all very smooth and refined, but lacks the Jekyll and Hyde ability of the M5, and doesn't have any savagery when past 7 or 8 10ths. I'd go so far as to say that the M5 is closer in personality to a 911 or GT-R than the S8. I know it sounds like I am being very negative about it and I'm not - it does what it is meant to do very well and on long journeys it is imperiously effortless (!?), but it's not a car I'd ever hop in and just drive, whereas I used to do that a lot in the M5. My wife has a Golf R which I didn't give second glance at when I had the M5, but I find I drive that a lot more now to have some fun or excitement.
Thanks. I had a feeling that may be the case. I could have been tempted to look at the S8 when i chose my F10 M5, had these deals been about, but sounds like although the performance has increased with the D4, the involvement hasn't.It is all very smooth and refined, but lacks the Jekyll and Hyde ability of the M5, and doesn't have any savagery when past 7 or 8 10ths. Medium V8 turbo large exec versus large V8 NA small saloon. Why would they be comparable? I hope no-one else is thinking the S8 is anything but a barge, albeit a v quick (in a straight line) one? There's a reason Audi don't do an RS8!
But they do now offer the S8+ which with 605bhp i can imagine would be a giggle as would run rings round the C7 RS6 (albeit not the new Performance Edition). It's a market thing, not a capability thing as BMW have never offered an M7 so why would Audi launch an RS8? Let's not forget that the A8 although large, is fairly light given it's bulk & only i think 40kg heavier than the current C7 RS6 which could no doubt be shaved off fairly easily.

I'm looking forward to my first Euro Trip in S8 when I can enjoy a bit of fuel efficiency on boring part (France, Belgium, Holland) and more sprited driving in Germany.
In my experience: France - they drive a bit faster than you'd expect. 145kmh is a safe speed for the cruise control.
Belgium - nutjob central. Very easy to roll along at 160kmh and blend right in. Beware that they are not great at looking though.
Netherlands - studiously law abiding but annoying with better road surfaces than Belgium. But they won't hold you up if you press on.
Germany - every time you hit a derestricted sign treat it like the pace car has just pulled over. More seriously though, sweeping curves can seem surprisingly tight at very high speeds.

dunno about run rings... possibly run straight lines
Perhaps, but on paper all the performance stats give the S8+ quite an advantage over the standard C7 RS6 & with only 40kg extra it would likely more than hold it's own across country. I'd certainly like to try an S8+ on track, if nothing else I'd bet it would be a giggle.Blown2CV said:
check the lease terms and make sure you can take it abroad freely, and the necessary things you need to ensure you've done in advance, if any
I have experience with taking lease cars abroad. VE103 is needed, which I'm going to request in March. My last two cars did 80-90% of mileage in Europe. I don't have winter tyres for Audi so have to wait for spring.PenelopaPitstop said:

What's the VE103?. Taken my F10 M5 which i Contract Hired across to the Continent a couple of times & other than informing my Insurers i don't think i contacted BMW FS to request their permission. TBH i'm not sure i read the T&C's but something tells me i may have done & it clearly stated EU travel was fine, but don't quote me on that.W8PMC said:

It's an alternative to the V5, which the leasing company won't release to you. http://www.bvrla.co.uk/advice/guidance/vehicles-tr...I had the V5 on "my" leased E63. I also did a long-planned european road trip shortly after taking delivery of my current car, which I did without the V5. I was aware of the risk at the time and the DVLA seemed to have a backlog - I think it took them 5 weeks to deliver the new V5 and as a precaution I had all the receipts etc with me with the new keeper supplement.

Anyone managed to get a deal similar to the one last year?
ish...£5k down (£1k being refunded to me in June) then £360+VAT over 2 years 10k PA.
There were the small matters of admin fee and broker profit sweetener.
Last I looked they were up to £480+VAT pcm though so it's drawing to a close. Limited dealer allocations, see.

The Dutch are studiously law abiding as 50kmh over the limit means your car is confiscated!! A friend worked at ABN Amro and visiting Brit execs were responsible for many many bank owned cars sitting in the Dutch Police compounds.
I did not know that. How do you get you car back? Pay a fine? Gassing Station | Audi, Seat, Skoda & VW | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
