The Amazing PH Passat Alltrack Thread
Discussion
Reading back over the PH lease deals thread, it seems the Passat deal was very short lived. Fair enough, it seemed they had a reason to shift that stock and once they were gone, that was that
Was the golf R similarly short lived? I keep reading there might be another golf R deal on the horizon but putting the trigger same day might not be possible for me

I think the Passat deal was a mistake by VWFS that they, very kindly, honoured for everyone who opted for it?Was the golf R similarly short lived? I keep reading there might be another golf R deal on the horizon but putting the trigger same day might not be possible for me

Nope, the huge monthly rental at £67 per month has me wiped out LOL
Seriously, would have liked heated front seats, but was so keen to get order in didn't have time to think about options
I would also have liked to add front heated seats and a white paint job but like you, just got a quote for the no additions, urano grey model to get things moving. Seriously, would have liked heated front seats, but was so keen to get order in didn't have time to think about options
Once it's closer to build time I'll have a punt at seeing if they will let me pay for the changes straight away as a one off payment so as not to effect the actual lease contract. Not holding out much hope but if you don't ask....

Weird thing is some brokers and even VW dealers were insisting (for a few hours, at least) that it wasn't a mistake - maybe that's why VW decided to honour it.
We got our (stock car) in Thursday last week. Very pleased so far. Pretty slow (150bhp in a fairly heavy estate), but it's nicely put together, has plenty of equipment and at less than £200 a month an absolute bargain.
Comes with mats. The adaptive CC is easy to use and works brilliantly. Nice that you're a bit higher than most traffic.

What's the ride like in terms of handling /steering /comfort? Comes with mats. The adaptive CC is easy to use and works brilliantly. Nice that you're a bit higher than most traffic.
I've never had adaptive cc before. What sort of distance does it keep between you and the car in front? (is it anywhere near the '2 second ' rule)

I love it personally - very comfortable and stable. ACC is amazing. Keeps you well back and is very clever indeed. Best thing about the car so far.I've never had adaptive cc before. What sort of distance does it keep between you and the car in front? (is it anywhere near the '2 second ' rule)
Been doing a bit of research, primarily trying to find a Urano Grey all track to see what it looks like.
Good news: I found some pics from a german 'auto trader' type site
Bad news: I'm not sure how to post pics on here yet
Good news: I'll provide some links for you to go look yourself (hopefully they will remain in English)
More good news: The links will show 250 new model alltracks in pretty much all the colours available
Bad news: In my opinion, the Urano Grey is the worst colour of all the alltracks.
Good news: If you have happened to order the alltrack in sliver, white or black, you will have an ace looking car
More good news: (and bad news for Volkswagen) Is that we are getting this car at an absolute steal of a price
Eg, if you spec up the DSG alltrack on www.volkswagen.de (german website) to get the same spec car as the standard uk spec, its well in excess of 50,000 euros - or over £40 grand in our money. The euro conversion has dropped from 1.42 ish at the turn of the year to 1.27 ish which in simple terms, means VW are losing around £6k margin on each and every alltrack sold in the UK because of the exchange rate. Add in the fact that they have screwed up the lease price for this deal - effectively, their £40k car is going to be worth in or around £20k in 2 years time - but we only pay peanuts for it :smoking:
Anyway, as I said, some links to see the different colours.
I really like the silver/light grey. It has a classy look to it, very smart. The white also looks really good, with plenty of kerb appeal. The thing I like about the white version is the contrast between the white paint and the grey 'alltrack' protection which runs around the car.
There is a white audi allroad that I frequently see in my local area and it looks the business. There are so many generic cars about these days and while I like most of the styling of Audi cars, you see them on every corner. The Audi Allroad on the otherhand is a car that would make you turn your head as it looks great - I think the white alltrack will also have a similar effect.
This is where the Urano Grey alltrack falls down IMO. Because the grey 'alltrack' protection is virtually the same colour as the actual paintwork, it loses the overall effect and therefore isn't able to separate itself enough from the regular passat estate because of this.
Have a look at the links and see what you think for yourself….

Actual Urano grey alltrack link: (53,000 euros and it only has 17" wheels!?! - the 18" wheel are much nicer than these 17" which, thankfully, we won't be getting as UK wheels are 18" standard and 19" for the upgrades)

Useful post soupdragon, thanks.
I agree Urano Grey is the worst colour, it looks ok but you lose the Alltrack detailing. Chrome bits lift it a bit though. Still, the car is a steal and I'm not going to brood over the colour. That said if anyone gets anywhere with changing their grey for another colour during the order process I'm all ears...

Really don't like the grey. Genuinely considering wrapping it in vinyl. Thinking maybe a flat silver to match the brushed aluminium parts, bit like the "frozen" m5 colour. Or maybe just white, which looks really well too.
Without going off on a tangent, are there any "wrapping" threads on pistonheads?
