Yep. If was standard on a couple of diesels I've had.

They're usually a ceramic-electric element in the heating/ventilation system and they're used because diesels warm up much more slowly than petrols.

Hi,
First post so be easy

I placed order for my s5 coupe with V4b which shows on my Audi as being placed on 17th nov.

Originally i was told late feb / early march for delivery.

I still have no build date and my tracker is at the welcome stage.

Has anyone else who ordered around the same time not had a build date as V4b has told me they have other customers in my position.

Mine is showing 6th of March and it was ordered a similar time with V4B. What are the dealer saying? My build date moved around loads but the dealer maintained that it would be a week 10 build and low and behold that's what it ended up on! So the dealers may know more than yourAudi lets on.

Mine is currently in the dealers getting some rattles sorted out plus looking at the ticking from engine. They seem to think ticking is injectors and will be the same on all cars. Would be interested to hear someone else's engine at some stage. Is anyone getting an s5 from Scotland?

The dealers have been very good and apologetic about the rattles and creeks... I have an a3 courtesy car and they have told me if they need it for more days after tomorrow they will get me in something more 'fun.' The rear window is what is creeping and they have said it needs to be taken out and a new seal or something! They also said they are working on a 'goodwill gesture' due to not having my car for a couple days. (To which I told them I'd happily take an r8 as compensation for a few days haha)

They phoned sheffield Audi on friday past and were told they can,t give a build date yet as they were "Overwhelmed" with orders.
I am seriously starting to loose patience as i should have been getting the car within the next couple of weeks.
I think i will call Sheffield Audi tomorrow.

My coupe order was lodged 30/11. It has been built and is currently in quality control. I was originally dealing with V4B but ordered with nationwide vehicle contracts.

Mine was ordered 15/11, so a couple weeks earlier, yet not due to go into production until 6th March! Also a coupe... how have they worked that out then? Happy for you getting yours so soon, just confused how they've organised things!

Do you mind me asking who you placed your order with? I'm with Fleetsauce, and I placed the order with them on 01/11... Audi have the order being placed at 15/11... does this seem like the correct timeframe/delay to anyone else who's ordered?

There seems to be no rhyme or reason to it... I would say that you should definitely have at least an estimated build date on my audi...

Yea , I am thinking mine has slipped through the net.
Just emailed Stewart from V4B to tell him if no build date is received by tomorrow I am cancelling the order and expect the broker fee back.

Cheers, its on a 4 year (Probably change in 3) PCP deal direct with Audi, £2500 contribution from Audi and I'm putting in £2000 and its £490 a month. Its a high monthly figure compared to the lease deals I've seen on here but I'm 25, no kids, my bills and mortgage are reasonable. So I have this thought in my mind to get a nice brand new car before I have kids and a wife where if its anything like what happening to my dad your money gets taken without you really knowing.

Yes - likely so. It's to do with securing the build slot and. It the order date. Sheffield audi obvs got me a good slot which they probably already had and adapted to my spec.

Not sure how the deal compares to other tdi's - I guess you're doing a fair mileage hence not opting for the S5? All about balance and if you're on the housing ladder and have a decent income spend away and enjoy - no doubt you work hard for it.
