Mine shows as with factory, no deposit paid. When is too late to change the colour? Went for lapiz but I'm thinking white might suit it better. And it's cheaper.
I asked about adding/changing extras to mine on Monday and was told I had the next two weeks to make any changes. I assume this applies to colour too but not 100%. Like others here, I was told last Friday morning I had been accepted by VWFS and my car had been ordered but I still haven't been given an order number. As a side note I guess I'd better change my username soon!
Hi all. I've just joined as managed to get on the amazing golf R estate deal. I went direct to VW and went for a red one with no options.
Managed to get my order number but still showing as step 1 on the tracker and VW chat can't confirm build week. I've heard the red ones may have a longer wait? I'm coming from an FN2 CTR so am looking forward to some torque!

Colour shouldn't make any difference. My experience of walking round pretty much all of Ford's European plants, when I worked there a few years back, suggests that the paint robots will paint different colours continuously, and don't batch things together. Unless there is a red shortage (unlikely) then can't see how the colour choice will impact anything. Perhaps VW are different though.
The only time things are batched together is where the bodystyles are radically different, as may be the case with the estate. As there may have been x hundred orders suddenly appear for Golf R Estates, the schedulers are likely trying to get some/most of them along the production line at the same time.

Build week will remain unconfirmed until 4 weeks before the build week commences. The build week will move about a bit until confirmation and it could take some time before it is confirmed. The best way to find out is to tweet @VWUKHelp they will let you know faster than your dealer.

The following model year 2017 (MY17) product changes take effect from build week 22 2016 (starting Monday 30 May).
Model year 2017 will be open for ordering in the week starting Monday 25 April. Make sure your customers know about these changes if their factory order will be affected.
There will be no inflationary increase on model prices, but the delivery charge increases from £570 to £600. Some new engines will be available – see details under individual models listed below. There will be an increase on all paint prices, see under ‘all models’.
Note
All customer vehicles tagged by 2 May will not incur the higher paint prices.
All 2016 model year cars that have not been confirmed by 25 April will be moved over to the new model year.
Important: during the change-over to model year 17, do not amend any orders until your vehicle becomes an MY17 car. If any changes are made before it becomes a MY17 car, this could lead to misbuilt cars.
The Volkswagen website will be updated with any 2017 model year specification changes and price changes on 3 May.
Price lists will be updated and available via Desktop and Volkswagen.co.uk website from 3 May 2016.

Bedford VW, can't wait also!
I am collecting from them, never had my own new car, had new cars when working in sales, but, my own will be something different. Especially as its something a bit special.
Saw my 1st R wagon on the road yesterday, in white, standard alloys like mine will be, and it looked cracking!

Depends on work. They have offered to trailer it to me which I'll take if I'm busy. Otherwise its a train ride and finding a long way home (not doing 150 miles of the M1 at ~50mph)Who is going to the dealer for collection? I haven't said either way yet (and they haven't asked) so I'm not 100% but I have never picked up a brand new car from the dealer so really am quite tempted to collect in person. The wife recently had her new Golf Gti delivered to the house and it really was a seamless process. However, it just didn't feel quite as exciting as collecting the car in person.
I picked my current car up from the dealers in person (it was 5 months old though) and, I have to say, it was lovely seeing it gleaming outside of the dealership ready to be driven away.
First world problem and all that!
