Insurance tax went up in October. So possible, but unlikely, that you'd see much of a drop had you kept the same car.

That lot always find a new way to rob you. I doubt we'll see any of this possible £40 reduction on each policy from the changes to how whiplash claims are dealt with.

Best insurance quote I have found is £1001 with aviva. All others around £1100 mark. Was hoping to be a bit cheaper frown

So is anyone "running in" the engine, or just thrashing it from day 1 (given the opportunity!)?
I did the running in. Who knows if it'll make a difference. All I can say is my mates BMW 135i which he ranted straight out of the dealership sounded like a bag of old spanners after 2 years.

Mine has been driven hard from day 1, it also has the 2014 turbo which had issues and has been running stage2 for nearly 2 years. no issues at all.

A few people who have tickled there's for first few thousand miles have had turbo issues (on 2014 models)

just drive it.

"Wheel hop" is the biggest negative in my view also - I thought the drive shaft had snapped when it first happened! Is it the traction control intervention? I've had plenty of other powerful cars where you can get a bit of wheelspin action at speed without a noise like that occurring!

Swapping the lower engine mount supposedly fixes/dramatically reduces the wheel hop. So the noise must be caused by the engine flapping about. An up rated mount costs about £250 although maybe find a used one via one of the forums as its the kind of thing you can swap out easy enough.

On the train on the way to pick mine up now biggrin

Early start that'd get me to the dealer about an hour before they open, but train ticket prices were daft otherwise.

Was planning a lovely get-to-know-you drive across the peak district on the way home, but need to get back for work, so I guess my first assessment will be how good it is in 50mph roadworks on the M6 and M1. frown

Happy days! Which dealer are you heading to?

I'm catching the train later too, getting mine from Lookers.

IMG SEAT in Warrington. Sat at a café waiting for it to open now!

Lookers in Stockport? Enjoy your new car. If I see another cupra on the M6, I'll give you a wave biggrinbyebye

Yep, back home now. Very dull drive back down the motorway, but average is 39mpg (now I'll just keep that figure in mind as what the car 'can' do, drive quick everywhere and never look at the actual economy again, telling myself "it'll do 39mpg")

First impressions are very positive, but similar to everyone else I guess

+ Goes well, but also very smooth and driveable.
+ Ride is pretty good and unobtrusive so far. Some shake through the steering wheel though
+ Standard stereo pretty decent.
+ Seats are good with plenty of lumbar.
+ Front 3/4 visibility is surprisingly good (bucking the trend of many modern cars).

- Road noise is high. Combination of tyre cavity resonance and high frequency. Hopefully the winters I have will tackle the resonance and I've a bunch of foam etc to put under the boot floor/back seats etc
- steering on-centre feel is a little vague.

Very limited experience so far, but with some reduction of road noise, it should be perfect for what I want it for.

Need to spend some time working out how to get spotify working and fiddle with all the settings. Also no mats came with the car - apparently SEAT will send them out.

First of many fills of v-power:

Looks good Simon, how did you get 39!! I got 32 on a half decent 30 mile motorway trip.

Alor is growing on me, I saw a very dirty 16 plate one in Milton Keynes today looked awesome on the road

I think Alor is a good winter colour - brightens up the road as all the greys (even Dynamic!!) fade into the background on these dark grey cloudy days.

Still waiting for my finance docs from Carly...

About 30 miles of roadworks is how I got 39mpg!

I'm really liking alor (handy that I do since I chose it ;-) ) like the poster above says, it really brightens up and winter's grey day
