Hi all,
Does anyone have the best/most definitive guide for Sat nav/MMI updating? Link with all the files and such and exact steps? I don't have VAG-COM but I know someone who does so I could take the car there after I've done the updates.
Is yours HDD based 3G in a pre-facelift? If so I can point you in the right direction if you PM me Does anyone have the best/most definitive guide for Sat nav/MMI updating? I've noticed my S4 started to make a strange intermittent humming noise, like slow motion helicopter sound, that is relative to speed and I recon I hear it with frequency of about 2-3 per second when driving about 30mph.
From the limited research I can't see how this could be wheel bearing failing? What else it could be - seems to be front, possibly right hand side but its hard to tell from the inside of the car.
i've got brake pad warning on that came on 2 weeks ago - checked all pads and they still have some life in them so I was planning to replace them at the next service (November) but perhaps it needs to be done now?

Adrian is a total legend, what a superb help the nav update guide is. It's people like him that make the internet great.
All updated to the latest software and nav, superb.
Car has cost me for the first time, cracked rear spring flagged up on the MOT and I found a small bulge in a rear tyre's sidewall, so £145 for the spring and £212 for a couple of new Vredestein ultrac sessantas for the rear. I had P Zero Rossos but couldnt find anywhere who had the 93Y's in stock so went for my old favorites.
Anyone running a quantum based remap?

Hi all,
Out of interest what do you feel gets the best out of the stereo (especially the B&O) in terms of quality? I've been using MP3 off SD cards, seems a bit hit and miss. I don't have DAB for radio either.
I was wondering how good say spotify is with an iPhone 5 connected via the AMI? Even though my 59 plate has the latest software I don't think it supports FLAC.
Would be interested to hear peoples opinions, and also how you'v tuned your settings - I just up'd the bass setting a quater as I found its a bit lacking, everything else is left in default.

It's probably been done to death earlier in the thread, but what wheel/tyre sizes does anyone use for winter wheels/tyres?
I currently have 245/40 18"s on my B8.5 Avant, and am hoping to find a second set of OEM alloys. Wheels are these (does this pattern have a name?) and allegedly they're 8.5J, yet all the wheels in this design that I see on the bay of evil are only 8J...?

We run music mainly off an old ipod in the glovebox, the HDD and SD cards. Main thing is to make sure the quality of the files is as high as poss - 320kbps is I think the highest mp3 supported. Defo doesn't support FLAC unfortunately.
this ^^^^320kbps MP3 files work fine, and if you're using SD cards, the limitation is 3,000 tracks, not storage space (as in you cannot fill a 32G card without exceeding the 3,000 track limit).
Sound quality really is down to the quality of the MP3 files.
According to this the 18s are 8J

The 19" are 8.5J.
Hmm as for music, wondering if I should use my iPhone 5, can it be controlled from the car's system? I wonder which music steaming services can save filea at 320kps?

My 2014 car came with the lead for the newest spec iphone/ipods,I just went out and bought a cheap new nano for the sounds.
I was going to use the same nano that was attached to the od car stereo, but that took the older lead.
I can used the same playlists as on my phone but I still use the bluetooth on the phone for telephone calls though.
