Will VAG produce a list of which cars this covers, rather than 'speak to your local main stealer'?
All service schedules (maintenance tables) are on Erwin, and vehicle specific. In practice most are quite similar.

Forgive my lack of knowledge - what is Erwin?

Erwin is the Volkswagen group workshop database. Service, repairs, maintenance, recalls...

It's where the manufacturer publishes data for all workshops, franchise or independent.

The controversy on timing belt intervals came about from VW UK deciding to offer different guidance to the manufacturer.

Just booked my MY17 Skoda Superb 2.0 TDI for annual service and mot at trusted indy.

They didn't mention cam belt change, currently on 94k. I was googling intervals and this thread popped up. Does this new guidance apply to my 2.0 tdi?

Most likely 140k now, however i'd still be changing it on the 2.0.

Thanks, if there a known issue with the 2.0 TDI?

It's not really new guidance, in that the factory interval was always 140k miles.

...but yes, the manufacturer stipulates a 140k interval for your car.

We have seen a few where either the water pump leaks or the switchable side fails or the tensioner fails, not many but enough for me t change one if I owned one. The petrols I wouldn't worry about. Only you can decide if you want to change it early, i guess it depends how long you intend to keep the car.

Was just on the phone to Lookers Audi today as kept getting emails about needing a service which wasn't due till July and got her to update the details. I then mentioned that I thought I was due a cambelt change this year as it was five years old. She promptly replied that no you don't the guidance has been updated and it is based on mileage only. On my 2.0 tdi Q3 its 140,000 she seemed to suggest that some other models might be 160,000. Not sure which ones. So it appears dealers are sticking to the guidance. Bought last year with a four year warranty if I still have the car will then get it changed at eight year old.
