So theres just me thinks the interior is poor then?

No coloured seat backs / centre console, no TT type style, just Honda style blandness.

Sorry but the interior looks very average Audi to me, just a sea of black plastic, nothing special at all...

Agree what is top shelf in an A4 or A6 is not so special in a £90k car.

No, don't own it. Just happy to be able to drive it for a short spell (and learning that being a motoring journalist and a committed PHer can, on occasion, be problematic. My fault.)

Had a seat in one a few weeks ago and wasn't impressed. It looks fun to drive though!

I'm not too sure where this car is being placed.

It's too tame and compromised to be knocking at the enthusiasts door but probably too expensive for someone looking to move on from their TT.

I bet the deposits are largely misplaced speculators and can't see there being a deep rooted demand for this car.

David

erm everyone in the city who buys a Porsche is a Petrolhead? every footballer who buys a lambo is into their cars or just wants to be seen in the newest piece of kit?

I can see a big market for this car, though personally I would want to drive rather than own one.

Surely you are supporting my point. It's not competing with the Lambo and a fair number of Porsche buyers do so because ... well it is a Porsche and in their eyes that is enough of a positive...

Still think that it is slotting into a very limited space and will struggle to get conquest sales vs premium brands such as Aston, bentley and some of the more enthusiast orientated machines are just so much better. I think it will struglle in the same way as teh NSX. I think it needed knock em back performance or styling to stand a chance and it has neither. If you want a great interior buy an S8 and save the difference

I also have to say I don't know why PH bother with these 'Reviews' they always seem lightweight and leave me wondering if the guy actually drove the car. They're not helped by being accompanied by Audi press shots rather than actual pictures of the supposed test either. IMO they read like the sort of thing you get in the 'motoring section' of one of the tabloids. Much better to read about it in one of the heavyweight car mags IMO.

have to agree here beer

press shots (of the white car) - with no driver (!!?) zooming along on some asphalt on Mars.....? P*** OFF!
never a big fan of journalists who write stuff nothing to do with the object on review (reminds me of NME)
and...
there's no-one credited with writing it!! naughty!

although - did like the cutaways and CAD pix (being a tube jockey meself..)

Oh god ere we go...where there's one there will be a flock.....

At least Audi are making an attempt to break their own mould.....let's see what can the porker body designers do next to the 911 shape? ....erm how about putting the headlights on the rear and tail lights on the front.....that's about the only thing they haven't done yet..... Love the engineering, love the performance but god do I loath the shape, its become so damn dull and boring.

Way to go Audi but make it into a drivers car not some namby pamby half way effort and by the way the price is ridiculous, I agree with XRTurbo, the buying audience is gonna soon run dry....

Went past about 10 of these out at the Ring last weekend.....they do look fantastic!

Also saw the patch of scorched ground where the V10 version was

Also had a good look over the new M3....the Front looks quite amazing on that....but we were hurried away by a BMW official! Teach them to park it outside heh?

Oh god ere we go....where there's one there will be a flock INDEED............!

Can't find anything else to criticise in Porsche so trot that old chestnut out. The shape is fabulous - and tens of thousands of buyers over the years obviously agree. It's timeless and mercifully unique. Why change something for the sake of it? The R8 looks like an overgrown TT which in turn looks like the prev. TT. And of course it's got the the same wacking great grill on the front that every other Audi's got but so what? I quite like it's looks - if a bit brash and 'obvious'. You'll be telling us 'the engine's in the wrong place' next! God it's not suprising Porsche have been so unsuccessful with their crap design and engineering.

I wonder if there's a significant number of people like me, who would buy it (if in the market for that kind of car) simply because it's not a 911.

But then if such people exist maybe they would be like me in that they would never buy a new car anyway and hence not be much use to Audi's sales figures.

Weird way of making a major (£90k) buying decision IMO - not buying a car because you consider it the best but rather because 'it isn't a Porsche'.

Ah but us yoomans don't always make what you might call rational decisions do we? Everybody chooses to suit their own taste & often that can mean "just to be different". Thank God - the world would be a bloody dull place if there was only one car worth having in any class & price bracket.
