Anyway.. the Sat Nav is out of date and I've seen downloads that can update it and the various MMI software versions. Is this something anyone has tried or would I be in danger of bricking the car before I've had it a week? I've updated BMWs in the past so handy at following instructions.
Oh, and if anyone knows where the build label is, I can't find it. Its not obvious on the boot by the space saver.
If you have a mooch over to the A5OC site you'll find info on nav updates - look for 3GP/3G+ references, as yours is a facelift.Oh, and if anyone knows where the build label is, I can't find it. Its not obvious on the boot by the space saver.
I can't recall where the build sticker is in the boot of our S5 - you may need to take the spare out to find it, as it's not exactly spacious in there! Is yours late enough that the service book doesn't exist?

Thanks - I've been reading every forum I can find and a Russian site posted various files - I've successfully upgraded the software to the latest version using them (not the map) and will now probably be part of an Internet of things denial of service attack on the pentagon as I drive down gets M6..I can't recall where the build sticker is in the boot of our S5 - you may need to take the spare out to find it, as it's not exactly spacious in there! It's booked in on Monday as it has a stop/start disabled message. Dealer has now told me it' was modded two years ago while Audi were the registered keeper, be an interesting conversation. I'm guessing someone has hacked it to turn stop start off.
No log book, the dealer gave me a print out of the service history.

Weird how your speedo only goes up to 160? Maybe they changed it - my 59 plate goes upto 200........which is a bit weird, 60 is 1/4 of the way round...
I also noticed that - plus the redline on my speedo starts at 7k rpm.My friends Revo stage 1 S4 managed 300kph (186mph) on he Autobahn (in this instance it actually was, as he lives out in Swiss and travels to the Ring sometimes). Getting to 275ish was easy, took a while to find a good enough stretch to reach 300.
Quite impressive really, not sure what the speedo says as that was a SatNav registered speed. I guess the standard ones are limited to 155mph hence the 160 speedo.

Curious. Anyone got a UK B8.5 and care to take a pic of the dash?
I've a feeling the 160mph speedo is common to the A4 and could be purely down to the US seeming to push for reduced options and more commonality, presumably to reduce the amount of spares inventory (A3, A4, A6, A7, S4 in the US have essentially only 2 engine options between them, as an example).

Ta.
So 160mph speedo but 7k redline. Odd mix of parts bin pieces across the models, really.
No - 6K redlineSo 160mph speedo but 7k redline. Odd mix of parts bin pieces across the models, really.
Looking closely, UK ones have temp guauge in degrees C with numbers on the dial. American just have a red H and a white C at each end and no numbers.
