A mate of mine had his brand new RS6 stolen off his drive at night a while back. His car was spotted and then they followed him home to see where he lived (very common according to police). They used the OBD port to drive it away and he never realised until the morning. It was never seen again. Recon a good steering lock is the as answer.PorkInsider said:
Great to see it's moving!
The one I had on order (now cancelled) is still in Germany.
That's the car that was built and sat in QC 5 weeks ago.
Maybe this will make you feel happier for cancelling! http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...The one I had on order (now cancelled) is still in Germany.

I can understand that noise deafening sound insulation on cars. A huge amount better over the last 10/20 years, so much so that it stops you hearing the noise of the exhaust, so manufacture trying to get that noise back into the car is really only a benefit to people like us that actually enjoy our cars and want to hear them.
A few years back I had a Z4 35iS which is one of those cars that unless you know of it you would really appreciate its performance. When I drove it with the roof down it sounded amazing, but as soon as you put the roof up you lost all that sound and it sounded really disappointing. Thankfully I very rarely drove with the roof up, but that really isn't the point, it just is a perfect example of how much sound deadening we now get in modern cars.
From my side, I'm quite encouraged that it's got the speaker in the boot, perhaps there might be a way of turning the volume up a little bit as I was just a little bit disappointed that it didn't sound beefy enough from inside and yet from the videos I've seen it sounds okay externally.

Does anyone really actually care about whether it's got a speaker amplifying the noise of the exhaust or not? To me I really don't care whatsoever.

Don't get me wrong, I actually enjoy the sound of the car to, but not a fake/amplified sound...I didn't know I was buying into that when I test drove one as they kept that little detail a secret. The thing is IMO it does not sound the same on the outside at all, so something is faked in the 'amplification' process. I can understand that noise deafening sound insulation on cars. I would be intrigued to know what it looks like and it makes a big difference disconnected?

I can understand you and perhaps others being a bit upset, but when I test drove it, I didn't get the feeling it sounded artificial, hence not really bothering me too much.

Here are a couple of images:I would be intrigued to know what it looks like and it makes a big difference disconnected?
I will disconnect and try to attach a sound file later.

I would be Intrigued to know if the S5 cabrio has one of these then, being a fabric roof.I would be intrigued to know what it looks like and it makes a big difference disconnected?
