Whats with FS being so slow to sort out the new costs?
Got a message saying it will between £15 & £40 extra a month depending on what extras I ordered.
WTF has my options got to do with it?
Might be Black S5 SB with Towbar available...
I dont think audi can afford soo many cancellations. I dont think anyone should be asking for a re price but rather a 'i will cancel if price goes up'. Manufacturers have in the past taken the hit on extra cost, dont see why they shouldnt now eitherGot a message saying it will between £15 & £40 extra a month depending on what extras I ordered.

Although i ordered via a lease company i got the dealer to agree to take any extra tax increase, although Newbury Audi came up trumps and got me the car within a week of it landing in the UK (it was sat in Emden for over a month)easywelsh said:

Shouldn't make any difference on an S5 as they only come with 19" wheels. But on other models, a change of wheel size can nudge you from one VED band to the next.WTF has my options got to do with it?

Well, on other models it may be that it goes from under £40k to over. It could have been a generic email rather than one specific to the S5 I suppose.ODRALLAG said:

Audi are hardly going to be quaking in their boots at the thought of a handful of cancellations. If not re-leased at (I would expect) a significantly higher rate, the cars will get sold through the dealer network - again, probably at very close to list price for those who need instant gratification.I'd guess they simply don't have the margins to take on the extra cost without losing money on the deals. Possibly, some bad PR, but I'm sure they've dealt with worse. It does seem a huge lack of foresight on their part, though - the 2017 VED increase has been known about since summer 2015.

I agree, I don't think there is enough margin in the deals to be wanting to fork out £440 for every car. Not to mention there could be a case of each party (Audi UK, Audi AG, VW FS, the dealers) not thinking it is their fault.I'd guess they simply don't have the margins to take on the extra cost without losing money on the deals. Thing is I don't know how many cars we are talking about. We only know how many on this thread and it seems not many are affected, or should I say not many who have found out at the last minute.
Even though there are a few out there now I have yet to see a SB on the road.
FTI of guys being stung for the VED increase, I had a SEAT Ateca Exscellence quoted and ordered in February - both the dealer and I thought the VWFS quoting system was updated for the VED changes at this point. I ordered and was then told the system was yet to be updated for the new VED but before I even had suggested they make like to absorb the extra £400 approx, they offered to enhance my Day 1 cashback by the full amount. So I will pay the extra but I have had a day 1 cashback for the extra payments made over the 2 year term.
I think if you bend over and take it they will charge, those that make a fuss may find the dealer will contribute a significant part, if not all of the cost than loose the order and the volume bonus that comes with it.

A lot of it will also depend on how many vehicles they are likely to have to do it on. They will know that if the succumb to one person on here they will have to do it for everyone. The people who were told they would be covered (mine and I think it was IJBs) were both registered in march, although mine isn't here yet. And I think we both asked the question before they thought it would be an issue.I think if you bend over and take it they will charge, those that make a fuss may find the dealer will contribute a significant part, if not all of the cost than loose the order and the volume bonus that comes with it.

It seems that's not happening so much with these cars, hence me cancelling my order.HTH
As mentioned above a couple of people had ageements in advance regarding the VED changes. pretty much everyone else has been told to like it or lump it.
Perhaps the margins are just not there to absorb the extra costs?

It would appear that as these cars are in high demand, a cancellation threat will make little odds as they know they will re-sell or lease these cars very quickly particularly with a much reduced order waiting time, and with the new VED covered in full by the new customer. As mentioned above a couple of people had ageements in advance regarding the VED changes. pretty much everyone else has been told to like it or lump it.

Yes, I had the VED increase covered in writing when I ordered just in case, but never needed it as they delivered when advised. Maybe this was a good incentive to push mine through on time.Gassing Station | Audi, Seat, Skoda & VW | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
