Quick question. I ordered an s4 last week and as far as I can see everything is the same as the s5 except the s5 is probably better looking.

Do they come with heated side mirrors as standard? I know they don't fold but it seems a bit cheap to not be heated at all!
I'm pretty sure they are heated.

Yes the S4 and S5 are the same thing essentially, even in spec barring the S4 having smaller wheels as standard

Thanks for that, is this what you've done? Will take much less time if you don't have to send the ret doc off to DVLA and wait for it to come back before sending it to Audi.I've just emailed the dealer too in case its something they can do without incurring the extra cost, doubtful but worth a try.
Yes, did it with daughters Polo a while back. Don't think anything has changed since.

As Tom says yes they are heated. One thing to bear in mind is that you have to select the heated mirror option manually via the pad on the drivers door (It was the same on the Golf R too)

Most of the cars I've had have the heated mirrors work when the heated rear window is on (Which IMO is a better solution)

Speaking of mirrors has anyone got the auto dip for reverse to work? I have tried getting it to work and can't seem to. Or is it only with folders?

Usually you need memory seats - or folding mirrors - to get that function. But I think it can be enabled with VCDS.

Those options also include auto-dimming door mirrors, but that's not just a software tweak.

Hi,

My car had a build date to start tomorrow. However it appears ahead of schedule, as it started production this week. It has moved on quite quickly and is not at stage 6 (assembly).

In people's experiences how long did their cars stay in assembly for before moving to quality control?I have been told by the dealer to expect my car in the middle of May.

Yes, as with all Audi's since I can remember you have to have the memory seats to get the passenger side auto drop curb functionality, however with this car you also have to pay to add auto dimming folding mirrors to get the memory seats whereas it was just one package on older Audi's. If you've got memory seats you have to remember to make sure that the mirror selector switch is in the passenger position otherwise it won't dip when you select reverse. In our Mini you have to put the selector switch in the drivers position for the passenger mirror to dip which always confuses meconfused

Does anybody have any info on this VCDS? Would it affect the warranty etc on a lease car? Can it be detected?

Mine did the same, got excited and then was shown as 'QC' for a week.

When I spoke to Audi, they said it was still being assembled.

So I wouldn't really trust the tracker to be accurate until it says it's left the factory.

Full history below. Mine made it to Emden today.

On its way to the UK now.

Anyone know how long before it lands at port?

With VCDS you can enable/disable certain inbuilt functionality which does not affect warranty. Only things like re-maps and engine 'tweaks' outside of these functions do. BTW, the mirrors have no adjustment in VCDS if not auto fold as there is no motor inside.

..apart from the ones that make it go left/right/up/down, which is the one that's used for reverse dipping. smile

On B8 you can enable that with or without folding mirrors. http://a6retrofit.tripod.com/articles/a5vagcodes.h...

You probably can enable on the B9 as well, but not auto fold.

I want this, really miss it.

What do I need to buy to get vagcom? Can someone help as seems to be a plethora of software/cables to choose from.

I miss it too. The manual doesn't say you need any options for it though IIRC.

For anyone placing new orders, I would really recommend the Hill Hold Assist
Have they sorted the integration with Auto box and Stop/Start?

On B8's the engine would restart as soon as you release pressure on the brake pedal, so if you want stop/start to be useful, then HHA isn't!

Re flat bottomed wheels and legroom/ease of exit, I don't think it would make any useful difference. It's not like you have a confined cabin like this.

Yes the point of the HHA is that you can come to a stop and take your foot off the brake pedal without the car creeping or rolling.

And No the engine does not restart when pressure is released on brake pedal, only when light pressure is applied to the accelerator.

Re the Flat Bottom Steering wheel, I think its worth getting because it looks better.
