I don’t know whether it’s the case with the FL hatch but certainly on the pre-FL you had to toggle the drive mode to get the exhaust valves to open. So for instance, if you got in the car and it is in race and you drive off, engine mode, steering etc are all in race, but the exhausts valves won’t open. You have to switch out of race, then back into it. It’s totally daft, but thankfully the estate exhaust has no valves so is loud all the time.

Kinda correct. But you don’t have to swap modes.

So long as the gearbox is in Sport the exhaust valves are open. So if you leave it in Race. Turn it off then go back and turn it on. All you need to do is put it in Drive. Then Sport.

Saves touching the mode button smile

Ah right, my hatch is a manual though, so I assume you have to do it via the drive modes?

What has everyone been paying for their first (Oil Inspection) Service ?

Mine is on 16.5k miles and has just come up with the 1,000 miles to service warning.

Called 2 dealers (one close to home and one close to work) and the former wanted £212 and the latter £240! this seems a lot to me just to change the oil ?

Asked for quotes via email from dealers in a 30 mile radius. Got mine for £162 including the courtesy car, which they charge £12 for. Where are you based?

Does anyone have any good experiences of extending their lease? Mine is up in a few months but have not yet been contacted by anyone regarding buying the car or extending the lease.

I would love to extend but I think the monthly payments will be bigger frown

Unless you ask, they wont offer you anything. 95% of lease cars are handed back without a word.

I don't know how many times you'll need to service it but I bought a 2 year service plan for mine. Cost £240 and covers two services. I'll likely to the same again for my estate, which is also on Time & Distance, rather than LongLife.

I think you get 3 month payments at the same price - sure someone else will eb a long shortly who has done it - or at least thats what I was told.

Anymore than 3 months and price will probably go up, you could probably buy it and trade it in after 6 months or so for less.

I ended up paying less than £150. However, one dealer quoted nearly £250

Had mine last week - £140 at Northampton dealership - They also gave me a dongle for the VW Connect app for free while I was there - dunno if that’s normal or not

Gatwick

Tried 4 dealers in total now and not one will go below £200 :-( At least it;ll be the only service in my ownership!

Apparently an oil only service is £180 but the inspection (due to mileage and long life interval) is more!

I am looking for someone to take on my lease ! I was lucky enough to get one of the ridiculously low priced deals at £297 a month for a brand new mk7.5k Golf R Estate.

I've had the car for about 3 weeks and I love it but it's just not for me. Handles incredible, speed is incredible, interior is next level! 7 Speed DSG is a dream!

I just miss the noise of my old RS3 so need something with the noise again!!

Anyway, I've done 1k in the car so far, term is for 24 months and 20k miles overall. 1 month into it, 23 months to go. Car is immaculate as you'd expect.

You need to be a LTD company but the lease literally transfers straight over - no deposit to pay except an admin fee which I would cover of course.

Let me know if anyone is keen ! These deals aren't coming around again !!

You will never see golf r deals for 197 a month unless yu have a rediculous high first payment.

The golf r deals are no where as good as they once were. Anything under 300 a month (including initial payment) is seen as good now.

Think mine works out at £310 a month (1560 deposit 256 a month 10k miles 24 month lease). Thats for a estate, hatchback would be cheaper but no deals so far on 7.5 R hatchback. I am led to believe too much demand for hatchback, hence deals only on estate.

I pay less than that, but I put down quite a lot to start with as I'd been saving for a 'new' car for a while and had a pot of cash sitting in the bank.

I paid about 50% up front, far less than I'd have paid for a 5 year old used car that I'd been looking at, so it made sense to me, to keep the ongoing costs at the absolute minimum.

With interest rates in the dumps, it didn't seem much of a loss.

Obviously, overall it's the same amount biggrin

The contact I had at VW fleet suggested they were expecting an additional run of cheaper deals quite soon and he'd drop in here when that happened.

If you do get wind of one, just do it. Don't faff about. Don't think about it. Do something compulsive. I did. It's fun smile
