No worries. My own personal view was it might look a bit tacky but definately proven wrong now ive seen it. It is VERY red (if that makes sense!) but looks fantastic and very cool.

Remains to be seen how it looks with blue paintwork.

I'll be finding out in March (or April going by what others are saying.)

Just logged into My Audi and it seems that my production date has changed again...

Originally scheduled for the 20th of February, and then it changed to the 6th last week and now back to the 20th. My Golf R goes back mid April so should still be on track to get the Audi well before that!

I would be interested to know how many of us are going from Rs to these, must be a lot of people given the timings of the deals almost coinciding.

Good to know, I was having doubts. I had a B8 S4 a while back but (unlike the B8 S5) the red nappa also had black in it to contrast, just wondered if it was a bit much having them all red. My thoughts were the black would look drab (in a black car) and the grey it seemed difficult to decide based on pics whether it was nice or not.

I am coming from a manual Golf R - did order a second R (DSG) but cancelled it once the facelift was announced. Should be an interesting contrast! Heavier and slower but looking forward to the more premium cabin and 6 cylinder engine.

Ill find out tomorrow if i get a fee or any charges. Wont be happy if I do as I want another order going in asap if they charge me anything ill just wait for the next lease bargain thats around the corner. I cancelled with VW on an R lease once and they waived the 300 as we were getting the mrs a Polo GTI. Ita hard to order a car months before being able to see one in a showroom. lead times are 4 months now though not the 2 months i got
It's not so much the £300 (or whatever) I'd be bothered about; it's the 15% of P11D value which they quote on the contract as being the cancellation charge - so roughly £7,500 on an S5. Sounds like you've done well to avoid that!

Have they said if the one you're now going to order in its place will be at the same price as before, given that the prices have risen considerably now?

When I say considerably, I mean massively actually: http://www.vehiclesforbusiness.co.uk/personal-leas...
Update - After back and forth with Audi and V4B there is now a satisfactory resolution in place so I can take delivery of the S5 I had originally ordered.
Would still prefer Daytona Grey over Nav Blue but given lead times are now 5 months it was going to be a long wait to re-order for a colour change. The privacy glass situation has been sorted so happy to go ahead.
The S5 is getting dropped off to me on Friday 23rd Dec!!!

Glad to hear it's sorted.

Only a week and a half until delivery too!

I am too; I was getting an auto this time regardless of which car it was going to be though, had enough of changing gears. I used to have a B8 S4 Avant so I kind of know what to expect, slightly less fun to drive but better in every other way (apart from fuel). I hope the S5 is nearer the Golf (31 long term) on juice than the (pre facelift) S4 (22 long term)!

Does anybody know any real world mpg figures for these yet (coupe or sportback)?

Golf R DSG here. I loved the DSG as it was great for lazy days (Auto mode) and then perfect for those days when I wanted to use the manual mode...

I'm certainly going to miss the dual clutch but the gear changes look pretty quick on the S5 from the videos I've seen...

Id rather have the extra torque (over the B8 engine which was paired with a double clutch) than the slightly quicker gearchange!

11/11 I think, fleet sauce just dropped me an email today with an update. I didn't chase them or anything.

So not sure what to do if it's May delivery. I will need to either sort a loan to pay off my car or sell it before and hire a car for a bit. Not sure I want to be doing this every 24 months...

Well, I leased one car before I got my Golf and there was about a 2 week period I had to sort alternative arrangements. But I knew from the off it was going to be touch and go whether the Golf will be here on time when I ordered it. I was hoping to have about a month of overlap (as of the two lease cars I have had so far they were both a couple of weeks after I had expected them to arrive) since I was told march, but it looks like this might not be the case now!

Having said that it would appear that the situation is rather volatile, with the dates varying from week to week. Why they have been knocked back from 20th of Feb to 3rd of April I have no idea!

I remember this whole Build Week drama when I ordered the R.

If I remember correctly the date can keep changing up until 2 weeks before it gets locked in. So for example if it states that your car will begin production on the 20th March then you should receive confirmation of this on the 6th March at which point it will not change again.

So basically don't worry about it changing as it seems normal with VW/Audi.

Good, so hopefully it will move forwards (really hope it doesnt go backwards!)
