When is it best to ring up about extending your lease ? Mine is up in September and im wondering about extending or getting a new one. Is there a "good" time or does it not matter ?
when you get a quote for an extensio n you only have 14 days to accept it before it lapses. I had to get 2 quotes... the second was a few pounds a month cheaper!pavarotti1980 said:
Two questions
1) is there a way of knowing if sat nav has been updated to the latest version when car was serviced?
2) if not is there a safe fool proof way of updating it myself?
There was a fairly good guide on the Cupra Owners facebook group last year, worth asking on there1) is there a way of knowing if sat nav has been updated to the latest version when car was serviced?

1) no they won’t do that1) is there a way of knowing if sat nav has been updated to the latest version when car was serviced?

2) as it’s the same version as VW navs I imagine it’s the same clunky way. Basically download the software, insert the sd card into the computer (ensuring the lock on the card is unlocked) and follow the slow process of downloading/installing

Ah man I would have to actively engage in social media? I might have to stick to my old maps if i need to reactivate facebookSteBrown91 said:

The download will be a pain. Imagine the installation will just be popping it back in and letting it do its thing2) as it’s the same version as VW navs I imagine it’s the same clunky way. I contacted seat finance online on the 31st Jan to revise my mileage, got a reply saying someone would get back to me within 5 working days, still not heard back, will prob just call tomorrow, what's the best phone number to call? Thanks
Eventually got my revised quote back, original deal 8k miles per year so 16k over term, only done 6k in 14 months so asked for quote for 10k over term, revised to £238 from £249 per month for 8 months (1st revised payment 30/03/19) so 249-238 × 8 = 88 - 60 admin fee = grand saving of £28!! Think ill stick with original deal and get a few more fun miles on it in the next 8 months, tyres still plenty of tread.Well after 15,000 fun miles, my manual 290 black goes back tomorrow. Developed a slipping clutch under high load last month, but SEAT weren't interested (I wanted to get it fixed for the next buyer). Still under warranty, so hopefully it's sold from a main dealer and gets it done anyway.
My "Copra" 290 arrives tomorrow. DSG this time in mystery blue. Think I'll get getting a can of plastidip as the copper is gopping!

You can get pre cut decals on eBay for front and rear badges to lay over the top, only a few quid. Not sure about the wheels but the decals will certainly give a better look than the bronze! My "Copra" 290 arrives tomorrow. DSG this time in mystery blue. Just had a note to say my mystery blue 290 DSG will be arriving in the UK on the1st March, leased through Nationwide Vehicle Contracts on a whim after planning to get a Golf R but falling out of love with them due to some local 'helmets' who drive theirs at full chat around my area. I'm hoping that the Cupra will avoid the reputation R's seem to have but give me much the same driving experience - it was significantly cheaper lease as well!
Upgrading from a 2016 manual Polo GTI which has been a good little run around but I have had 2 kids since I got it and a bit more room is required...… plus some more horses....
Looking forward to my first 'flappy paddle' car and hopefully having something that can handle the daily work driving but be a bit more exciting when I want to floor it!

Yes, that's from my current experience on a VWFS agreement on a Golf R. I received an itemised list of common repairs with indicative costs direct from VWFS. It seems everyone receives the same letter.
Prices are as follows:
Dents not requiring repainting £36
Body panel damage requiring repaint £110
Spare key replacement £132
Alloy wheel damage (per wheel) £36
Full valet £27 - £60
Tyre damage £50 - £300
Incomplete or missing service history £400
Windscreen damage £65
Lost sat nav disc £300
Bumper damage £138
On a further note regarding VWFS. I received a letter from them requesting that i contact them with a mileage up date. My mileage is roughly half my 10k allowance on the contract. As a result they are reducing my monthly payment from £179.99 to £136.49 for the remainder of my lease. I love VWFS.
Just noticing the 'Incomplete or missing service history £400' bit. On a 24 month lease, do they expect us to service it twice?Prices are as follows:

£300 for a satnav disc (presumably just a DVD) seems a bit OTT considering they need updating every couple of years anyway.

That's odd.
Every report I've seen/read say that the new 290 is quieter than the old 290/300s due to the extra GPF
I've seen this too, but half of it is actually people freaking out that haven't yet got their cars wondering if it's going to be quieter. Or people annoyed that the DSG-fart has gone. It's now a 'meaty-thud' and sounds 10x better both inside and outside.Every report I've seen/read say that the new 290 is quieter than the old 290/300s due to the extra GPF
First thing I did was unplug the soundaktor. Car is definitely louder than my 290 black edition; I had both cars are the same time for about an hour and did a side-by-side comparison. I did a cold-start of both at the same time and the new one was drowning out the old car. This is going to sound stupid on a 4-pot, but once the cold-start is finished, the car kind of purrs and has the odd little quiet burble at idle. The old car just goes almost silent unless you put your head down near the boot, then you hear a deeper tone.
As for the actual car, it's way more refined than the pre-facelift. Sound insulation for road noise has improved, ironically though the exhaust is more audible inside the cabin as I'm positive it's louder. Interior materials are a step up too; not that the pre-FL cars were bad anyway.
