Thanks guys no news as yet but the wife's polo that was found has some good forensics apparently
Simon, list your S5 on some online databases such as this one http://www.stolencars24.eu/en/index.php you never know, the more exposure the better.
Just added it now thanks for directing me to the site.
To be honest we have suspicions about it being linked to someone on our street who has seen us go out because within 30 mins they took the Polo GTI.

Really!!......that's even more upsetting if true.

If any of you are willing please post my car on your Facebook and Twitter pages. The Polo GTI was first spotted in Cheshire so the S5 might be around there parked up on a decent estate waiting a few days.

Makes me sick, I can only imagine how you feel.
Fingers crossed the forensics and police get a result on this, but I feel the justice system will inevitably let you down.

Nope, but same as dufflecoats location.

[edit] Not doubting you can accurately do this, but at least mine is showing elsewhere on here at least. Maybe my phones GPS is out?

You're sure about that? Streetview at that location shows a white building with a big sign on it for the same company listed in your PH profile, and a similarly styled plumbing business.... smile

Correct, but it is NEVER parked there. I leave it at home and walk to work. Like I mentioned, it shows the right part of town only. My phone must get confused which is just as well I recon. Also, the map pin shows it on a building site behind!

Confused... I thought you said exactly the opposite recently, when we were talking about business vs personal leases?

Anyhow, Dufflecoat is right - GPS data in images is a significant privacy risk and a lot easier to leverage than registration numbers. Use an image hosting service that strips it out, turn off GPS data in your camera app, or strip it out some other way if you don't want the location of the picture to be easily discoverable.

I've got a technical issue with my car. For some reason the Google Maps system has stopped working. For the past week it has been very glitchy, but over the last few days it just refuses to load Google Maps.
You can get round this by switching across to normal maps which work perfectly, but trying to switch back to Google maps just doesn't work.

Until this last week, when he fired Cara in the morning it would load Google Maps within less than a minute, yesterday I was using it for a couple of hours and no matter where I was it just refused to load. I tried locking the car, leaving at lock and then coming back to it and have even tried reset to factory in the settings for the navigation system, but nothing is working.

Has anyone else come across this issue? I'm dreading phoning the dealer as I know they're going to ask me to bring the car in and then sit and wait while they do various tests.

Oddly enough JCBs have an anti theft tracking system fitted as standard now (if you pay the subscription)!

Mine has been far far slower at loading the maps over the last week. Used to be almost instantaneous but now may take a few minutes

One thing has has occurred to me, as I have to sort out my gap insurance and this has really got me thinking about it. Simon's S5 going along with 2 Rs in our area in the last week (previously unheard of around here) is worrying.

Anyway, I digress. I think it's not in VWFS' interest to have any tracking on the cars. If they get a 6 month old S5 nicked they will want it writing off. They will get 6 month old value for it from the insurance and then end up with all the money they would have got for the 2 year old lease as I understand the T&C's! They don't deduct what they get from insurance from what they expect it to be worth at 2 years. A written off lease car is beneficial to them as far as I can see it. They don't even have to sell the thing but get more money!

Oh my god I have the very same problem. Most of the time now I have a really basic map on the display instead of the Google earth view (Which I use by default). I have the "Online" thing showing in the bottom right of the screen and signal on the display too. I was going to post the very same as you to see if there was a way to make a full reset or something on the nav. I'd sooner try and sort it myself rather than it go to Audi and they scratch their heads for a few days and say they've fixed it when they probably haven't!!!!

Yeah sort gap out for sure but to be honest I don't think there will be a big gap to bridge given it had 4200 miles 6 months old I paid 3600 down and then 399 a month since Jan. Can't see it losing much more than 6 grand in 6 months

Well if you were dealing with the insurance directly then one could argue that it wont have lot much at all, as you cant get one until December now so they are obviously in demand. But I presume VWFS will liaise directly with the insurance company? And I thought they came after all of the payments not just what isn't covered by the car?

I think that profile will look naff anyway, I dont like the BMWs you see with the 30 profile on the 19s, just looks too thin for me.
Since the start of this wheels discussion, simonbamg has not commented back at all. Hope we have not upset him with all the negativity.
I would hope not, it's subjective anyway!
I expected the usual pistonheads negativity to be honest, sorry to disappoint you all, but wheels went on yesterday, look amazing in my opinion, yes small profile tyres but ride is fine, again sorry to disappoint, gave it a proper test drive and no rubbing at all.

Pics please then so we can decide based on fact rather than speculation! (Don't forget to turn off the geo location as above...)

That's exactly what mine is doing, the little progress bar in the right-hand corner get somewhere between halfway and three quarters of the way to being complete and then just sits and does nothing.

Yesterday I tried to do a software update in the car whilst out and about, when I click on the update button the screen came up and suggested that I needed to register with Audi connect - I was completely convinced I had already done all of this and was on the way into a meeting so decided to ignore it and do it another time.
Interestingly, whilst I was out yesterday my wife took a call from Audi UK who said that I needed to register for Audi connect. She didn't really understand what they were talking about but took a number so I could call them back. I may give me a ring later this morning. I just wonder if all of this somehow is connected.
