The Golf R lease thread
Discussion
I've handed back my '66 plate 'R around 1 month ago now - owned by alphabet.
I've been charged by them for excess mileage, and also excess hire time ( they picked it up almost 1 month late ).
The guy from BCA highlighted a number of problems that all seemed very minor to me - paint chips on the bumper/bonet, a few paint scratches down the side, all seemed to be fine according to the guide alphabet send me.
Does anyone know how long I should expect to wait for any bill concerning any damage they've highlighted ? It all seems very strange to me - I'm just waiting for them to raise me invoices until the car goes to auction ???

Seems a bit unfair.
But did he continue to use it in which case what does that matter. Seems a bit unfair.
If he had alternative car already sorted clearly he should have “off hired” it at that point in writing recorded delivery email phone call etc to cover ones arse.
We have one of the original June 2016 deals
1,500 deposit and 215 a month for 20k mileage.
We extended for another year but not a great deal as was £60 fee and then monthly went up to £258 for another 5k mileage taking it to 25k total. We will go over and have to swallow the excess mileage but not too bad.
We asked for a purchase price from VWFS and they came back with £21,800 which I thought was strong money on a car 2.5 year old car on 23k.
We also have a couple of small dings on the black plastic rear bumper surround - would this come off the purchase price if we bought?
Do we hold out until much nearer the end (September) and ask again and hope the additional mileage and age will lower the price further?
Appreciate thoughts other experiences as would really like to keep this particular car.

I had exactly the same as you but as of yet 5weeks ,I’ve had no other bill other than the excess mileage I've been charged by them for excess mileage, and also excess hire time ( they picked it up almost 1 month late ).

Noteworthy for all readers, my lease ends in june, it’s a GTI, not R.
Anyways I had contacted VWFS a few days ago about booking a vehicle inspection. They have turned around and said as of April 2019 they have notified BCA to not allow inspection prior to collection. They have to be done on the same day.
This is bad news as I have a few dings (on swage line and wheel arches) that I wanted to be checked on inspection then see if it was cheaper for me to repair or to pay the charges to VWFS.

I split a tin of Farrow & Ball Modern Emulsion all over the boot of my estate. Cleaning it is proving to be a right PITA!Anyways I had contacted VWFS a few days ago about booking a vehicle inspection. My wife did that in my brand new Skoda Octavia vRS back in 2002! I've almost forgiven her, but not the knob at B&Q who reckoned the best way to soak it up was to pour a bag of peat into the boot!!!!!!

Got a quote today to buy my estate - june 2017 deal - £256.80 per month, £1540.80 upfront.
Price to buy is £23250 based on 19k miles. I have passed and extended my lease which will be £205.60 per month for the next year.
So £205.60 x 12 = £2467.20 less tax £145 = £2322.50 the depreciation VW reckon the car will have next year.
Be interesting to see what the buy price is come this time next year - by VW / BCA calculations £20,927.50. Seems strong money for a standard no option white estate with approx 30k miles. Especially with the new VW golf on the horizon at some point.

That's a good monthly price. I've been quoted 225 per month by vets to extend my golf GTI. Desperate to find a golf r deal now but they are all so expensive. I was thinking about a golf r once the 69 plates come out as my current car will be 3 years into a 4 year PCP then, however having just heard the news about the 2020 golf R which will feature a new golf R plus version that will power up between 380-400hp and hit 0-62 in under 4 seconds competing with the RS3 and even bettering it in some reports, I may hold out for this although it’s expected to be priced at 40k with the standard R version having an entry price of 35k with 320-330hp.
This R plus sounds exciting, I just hope it’s not another R400 thing of 2014 that never materialises, although VW’s owner seems to have given it the green light, which seems promising.

The boot floor was pretty easy because I could remove it from the car, and I just rinsed it until there was no more paint in the pile of the carpet. The ledge at the back, just behind the rear seat uprights, is proving harder.
As if wasting a whole £78 tin of paint wasn’t a big enough kick in the balls.
That's made a fair mess
About 10 years ago i managed to spill 2 McDonalds milkshakes over the passenger seat / carpet of my Focus RS. That was a bugger to clean up - plus the car had a weird mixture of strawberry & chocolate in the interior for about 3 months, which wasn't ideal in the baking hot summer.
