Mine is absolutely fine, I've had to set it to 22°C recently as it seems to get carried away.

I don't think it's the very best A/C but it'll keep you cool.

Just joined B8 ownership and I can't grumble at all, I came from a Legacy Spec B H6 so the mpg isn't really a shock - similar MPG but double the horsepower seems a fair trade off.
Definitely doesn't drive as nicely down a backroad, feels much heavier but then the Legacy wouldn't drive as nicely down an A road.

I'm in Colorado and I've posted photos of the exterior temp being 106f in this thread. I've never had an issue with it not getting cold enough.

I’ve had a few aircon regasses over the years, so some info on gas recovery:

2011 car

1st regas 9/2014 - no info (main dealer)
2nd regas 9/2016 - no info (main dealer)
3rd regas 8/2020 - recovered 285g, 4ml oil - refilled 590g, 13ml oil
4th regas 9/2021 - recovered 435g, 27ml oil - refilled 570g, 10ml oil

Reason for short gap between 3rd and 4th was I’d noticed the fans running full pelt a lot after the 3rd regas. Possibly due to dislodged debris blocking something. Fully sorted after 4th regas. Mine blows bloody cold, when required

Basically it can lose a lot of gas per year, which will affect its efficiency. Mine is run on auto the vast majority of the time

Two years since last done and it’s still working perfectly

Bit of a moot point okay a very moot point but where do you folk have your PH sticker?
It's an avant and debadged, I think the back is too curvy to go on the boot so I'm swaying more to the N/S corner of the window?

How cold does the aircon get in these cars?

On its lowest setting it doesn't give me the impression that it would cope with a hot day. I'd expect the air that was coming out of the vents to be uncomfortable rather then meh.

A recharge seems sensible however just interested as to what result could be expected.
Mine felt cool but not cold, so I popped it into a trusted garage. Turned out it was half empty of refrigerant. All sorted now and it's nice and cold.

I also secretly want to know where people place their sticker. My S4 avant is also de-badged side and rear.

Thanks. Have booked mine in for this week. Suspect it is low but will soon find out.

We probably just need to start our own movement, it was a simple decision on the DC2. biggrin

Anyway, back on topic. Got the S4 booked in for August to get the water pump, thermostat and pcv done and coming in at £850. Hopefully this'll cure the disappearing coolant as there is no contamination inside the engine.

Also what do you folk recommend for protecting the ledge of the rear bumper? The damn Dogs have already started to get me very nervous for when they go out in it for when they put scratches on the ledge.
For some reason RGM say the B8 trim doesn't work on S4?

Here is RGM's site.

PCV will cure it. Paid 1800 two years ago so you’re getting a good deal!

I recently bought this to protect the rear bump from the dog. I have a fitted rubber boot protector that is quite heavy, so I slide this underneath and flap it over the bumper.

Re gassed and working as expected. Not having to work hard to maintain a temp and on LO the air has an icy feel.

Hi all. I have a question but first a quick intro:

I have an S4 B8 Avant in silver. Its done 138k miles but with full Audi history. I bought it late last year and love it. We drove down to France in May and its not really put a foot wrong.

Question: When I went to collect it, the previous owner mentioned it was due a gearbox service so I booked it in and had it done. The gear change is smooth when changing up and down. But a few times I have used kick down, a couple of times it has been slow to engage and then you get a whoosh like a turbo where something seems to connect OR and this happened recently, if I take my foot off before its changed up, it literally throws me forward as opposed to dropping the revs. Also sometimes it seems a bit dim witted when you push it. Paddle shift is perfect and sport works well...

Any ideas or are these issues normal? My car before was a 22 year old E class auto so obviously very diff :-)

Hi all. Long-time S4 shopper here. Anyone who’s recently bought or sold: what are values/buyer competition like for pre-facelift S Tronic S4 Avants right now?

I have - finally - sold my A6 and, annoyingly, the perfect-for-me spec S4 Avant I’ve been watching has sold, despite still being advertised. I’ve seen that lots of S4s are hanging around for a long time and others are having the price cut numerous times, so I imagine it’s more of a buyer’s market than a seller’s one. Is that the case…?

Very spec sensitive on ease of sale - low spec will hang around. Priced right a decent spec one shouldn’t hang around.

Thanks. My impression was that even well specified versions have been falling in price and hanging around, though there’s not that many at my end of the S4 market - up to £11k.

What are generally seen as the most desirable bits of kit…19s, panoramic roof, nav and B&O - that kind of thing?

Sold mine a year ago and had a nightmare selling it, despite it being good for what it was - 59 reg manual, 100k, very good history, low owners, recently detailed, good spec etc. Ended up using CarWOW and got about 6k.

IMO essential for most would be:

SatNav (the better MMI one)
B&O

Some may also want the Sports seats (they are superb).

Re Wheels don't worry too much as if needed can buy a set of 19's if you end up with 18's, and then have maybe a winter/summer option too. Otheriwse I cannot recall too much else that is must have etc.
