Quick question to all you guys that have ordered -

I ordered one before the deal was pulled in person at the dealership. I got a printed quote, told the salesman to go ahead - credit check completed and he provided me with an order number. The car has been built and is on its way.

My concern is - I haven't actually signed anything yet or paid any form of deposit. Is this normal, and if so when do I actually sign any paperwork??

(I realise the ordering system is different for those who have ordered through a broker or over the phone)

I'm exactly the same except I did it by email.

I believe the first payment is taken something like two weeks after delivery?

Almost the same for me. I have order form and car has been built but I have paid a 'deposit' or at least £500 of the initial payment.

I haven't paid anything yet either, just sending off the final documents now. As a side note my tracker updated today to 'Arrived in the UK' bounce

I have not signed the finance documents yet either.
I have to pop in to my local dealer when the car arrives in the uk and sign, first payment will be taken 14 days or so after the car is collected I believe?

Mine has not arrived in the UK yet, hopefully not long now? How long do they normally sit dockside in Emden before they sail?

Think mine is the third one on the right, between the two white ones wink

Have you picked yours up or are picking it up soon?
Or was it on another lease deal you got yours?

Ideally, I'd like to sort out GAP before I collect the car.
Looking at what happened to the guy who picked up his R yesterday, and got crashed into, I wouldn't like to drive it 'un-gapped'
No I haven't picked it up yet - don't have a collection date yet either - the car is waiting in Emden for a crossing according to VW Chat.
No, i'm on the same lease deal as everyone else - I haven't paid anything, but have all the contract papers signed, sent a bill and driving licence to the dealer for ID checks etc. and all done ready and waiting for delivery now.

Did you order through a broker?

I've just had my update to stage 5a, in transit. I haven't signed any documents.

When was your build date?

No didn't order through broker - from VW Halifax.
Just had an update this morning saying last stage should be at dealer in 10 days on average.
Build week was 02/05.

I reckon my car will be on the same transporter as yours - ordered from VW Halifax and got the same update this morning :-)

Every stage has been a bit ahead of schedule so far, so hoping there might be an outside chance of being able to collect bank holiday weekend.

I've heard that the MY17 models ecu (any builds after june) can detect and flag if a tuning box has been connected. I'm not a fan of tuning boxes anyway, especially if connected to a car that essentially isn't mine.

This was something that interested me, having not paid any deposit or sent any ID off. Just assumed it was something to do with being a 'fleet' sale rather than a retail one.

When I ordered the A4 on the cheap lease deal, which I cancelled to get the Golf, the Audi dealer was all over proof of address, driving licence and holding deposits. This was also with VWFS so was a bit confusing..

If anyone is planning on tuning their leased car, frankly, they're an idiot.

Hopefully no-one is planning too on this thread?

I don't see the point on a 300hp estate car to be honest. A map might cost what, £400?... so £15 per month in return for a little boost in performance and a real risk of the lease company throwing a wobbly.

There isn't much outside of sports cars that will stay close anyway...

If I buy it from the lease company at the end, I might, but that's after 2 years of living with it.

I too, just don't see the point, it has enough power for what most would want to use it for.
A remap of £400 plus whatever it costs to go back to the standard map too!

There was a guy who highly modified his SEAT lease and something happened. SEAT took his car from him and requested something like £11k.

http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=1...

I did see that the 0-60 on the regular R hatch can be reduced to 3.7 seconds with a map, but that's ridiculous!

I don't see why anyone would modify within the warranty period. I do not understand why one would buy a new car (I would for the warranty, mainly) and then void their warranty immediately through a remap or whatever. Unless it was a dealer sanctioned map, that apparently some dealers do.

it looks like it could take approx 2 weeks for mine to reach that stage (1st June) then 10 days to the dealer - 14th June (working days) then another week until collection.
Hopefully by the 21st June!

34 days. This will be a looooooooooooooooong month! :L

Theres always someone who will risk it. VW design their engines and drivetrain to last a certain length of time. Mapping/tuning boxes increase wear and reduce the life of parts. The issue is that someone who runs these things probably won't suffer issues in the first couple of years. It will probably be the next owner that suffers.

Looking back I think we posted at the same time that we'd had the build notification. Mine was build w/c 9 May.

So I keep checking the tracker to see if it has landed yet, but nothing...

It seems different dealers/brokers ask for different things. I have not had to provide any ID yet but have paid £500. Not signed any papers either. I expect things might move really quickly.

Anyone got any ideas on how I shift a 3 series dead quickly? Not sold a car for years.

Talk about unrealistic expectations... "I only changed the Boost, Timing and Fuel."

Oh and...

Milltek 100 Cell Sports Cat w/3" downpipe
Milltek non-res exhaust from the cat back
Forge DV Spacer
Forge Pressure Related DV
Carbonio CAI and Pannel Filter
Forge Twin Intercooler (Almost new!) with all hoses and fittings
REVO map

and then...

"This morning, Seat UK formally confirmed that the car's warranty on the ECU and Engine is void. They are not prepared to investigate the matter any further, believeing the REVO code, and that alone is the cause of the ECU's inability to communicate with the rest of the car, and VAGCOM. Furthermore, they have cancelled the breakdown assistance for the vehicle too, as it has been substantially altered outside of the original spec. They said that any further breakdown on the car is highly unlikley going to be atributed to the OE hardware in the car, and is due to the engine running outside of the recommended spec.

The vehice is under a contracted finance agreement also, and they also believe I have broken the terms of that contract, and have demanded payment in full within 28 days for the outstanding balance, or the goods returned to them in original condition (fair wear and tear excluded). I have asked for written proof of this by Friday.

They have also cancelled and taken back the hire car"

and then, "Studying my pre-contract info for the car does state that alterations are not permitted, and car has to be in fully saleable condition. They may have me there then, but I will most likley challenge this."

I don't call many people idiots, but somewhere there is a village missing it's idiot.
