I find it quite difficult to believe that a tyre change could have such a significant effect on fuel economy
Got to say I would agree with you had I not read the trip computer. I’ve rarely beaten 32mpg on my commute , I think somewhere on this thread I’ve mentioned it a couple of times. I’ve not liked the bridgstones from week one , definitely wouldn’t buy them from this experience for another car. Goodyear’s have performed much better. Now wishing I’d changed much sooner and ebayed the originals.
As some of you may know I am coming to the end of my lease which is due up in December.
Presumably you have to call VW finance to get a quote for renewal? I.E They do not send letters out?
How many are renewing? Given the current lack of good deals I will certainly be renewing subject to receiving a competitive quote.

Hi yes you just phone and they will ask a few questions about mileage and if you want a 6month or 12month extension. You should then receive the quotes within 10 working days. Presumably you have to call VW finance to get a quote for renewal? I.E They do not send letters out?

Got my response back today, pay £205 a month at the moment. They have quoted £211 a month for an extra year and 5k miles. Thought it might go down but there is no upfront payment.
Will request another quote later in the year as not ready to make a discussion now.
Strange... your quote has increased. A couple of the other owners/leasers have had quotes at significantly less than the rent payments that are currently passing. Will request another quote later in the year as not ready to make a discussion now.
I will give them a call out of interest.
Just had a quote to extend my lease DSG GTi for another 12 months.
Original deal was £1500 down and £156/ month for 5K miles/yr which was an amazing deal so I thought the extension would be a big increase but no. They have offered £286/month for another year with total mileage allowance of 40K as I'm way over the original mileage allowance. This works out as a big discount on the already low 7.2p/mile extra mileage charge.
Total cost is £8500 for 3 years or amortised cost of £236/month. Don't think I'd be able to get anywhere near that on anything else similar so going to take them up on it.

has anyone noticed corrosion on alloy wheels? Ivehad the car 1 year on the 12th, covered 9k. Two of my wheels have small white marks which i'm presuming is the start of corrosion on the surface. Would I be able to claim this on warranty before the end of lease?
Yes I’ve had this on my GTD. Apparently diamond cut wheels are prone to this. There’s only a thin lacquer to protect the aluminium so the smallest damage breaks the seal and corrosion sets in underneath.I’ve not enquirer about getting mine done under warranty as I’m sure I’ve kerbed the wheel.

After 19k the original potenzas were shot; about 2mm remaining but couldn’t get any traction in the slightest of damp conditions.
Whilst £20 more per tyre than the same potenzas I’ve gone for Michelin PS4. Time will tell if any better than the stock rubber but now scrubbed in they seem far better although that judgement could be masked by the worn out set they replaced.
The PS4s were a massive improvement on my GTD. And I’ve had 25k miles out of the fronts so far on them compared to 20k on the ptotenzas with a little more to go.Whilst £20 more per tyre than the same potenzas I’ve gone for Michelin PS4. Just to provide my input on the alloy wheel corrosion side of things. VW I’m 95% sure will not replace your alloys under warranty. My Clubsport S has 3900 Miles with 19” Pretoria’s on it and they would not even contemplate replacing the rear alloys due to corrosion/ stone chips. They said because of the cup tyres they pick up more road stones and because of this chipping the paint. It’s not a manufacturing fault. All I’ll say is good luck but be prepared to pay for it yourself.

6 months with 36k total = 329.16 month - £234 amortised
12 months with 40k total = 322.04 month - £248 amortised
