I had an RS4 Avant 06/56 and loved it but changed it for a 635D Sport great car but really missing a petrol car, so am now looking at M5 s for around the same price as RS4 Avant (well a little bit more but not far off)
RS4 or M5 both great cars but i would recommend you test drive both before you make a decision
Good luck nothing better than buying a new car!
what typical MPG did you return in the RS4 avant compared to your 635D?RS4 or M5 both great cars but i would recommend you test drive both before you make a decision

I suspect a M5 will drink be a lot more than either

The only problem, if you can call it that, but an M5 will consume a lot more petrol than an RS4. I heard of one guy saying it was such a pain always being at the pump .. let alone the money.
At the end of the day, it just comes down to what you prefer in looks and style, both great cars.
Very good point, if its style and looks you are after then the RS4 hits the spot in my book i loved the car inside and out not one thing to not like about it, but if its pure power you want then its the M5 At the end of the day, it just comes down to what you prefer in looks and style, both great cars.
I was getting about 19 to 21 mpg with the RS4 Avant, i understand the M5 is a lot less! But i still want one!
I bought mine from West London Audi..last time I spoke to them they had a silver Avant with all the right bits (although had bucket seats) and he would have let it go for £30k give or take a bit..great, great car IMHO and slightly stealthier than the M5. Rear legroom with buckets isnt great, nor is boot size compared with M5 (assuming its the same as regular 5 touring) but plenty enough room for a portly 6ft 2 driver, a 4 yr old and her crap in the back and a dog
