It may list it on the sticker where all the options are.
It does give the gearbox code on the build sticker.

I thought these were 7speed dry
I don't think so.

I've had it for a couple of years and 30K miles and never noticed 7th.
Unless it only comes in at a speed not tolerated in the UK.

Is there a way to tell the gearbox from the first few pages of
the owners handbook ? It seems to be covered in random data
strings.
7th gear at 50mph so almost every journey .

1.4 tsi has the 7 speed dry clutch box 100%.

I don't think it does always. My sister has an Octavia on a 17 plate . It's a 1.4 petrol and has a 6 speed DSG box .

The 7 speed dry clutch (DQ200) is for low torque applications, so was used on the 1.0 tsi, 1.4 tsi, 1.6 tsi etc

The 6 speed wet clutch (DQ250) was the high torque box for the 2.0 diesels and 2.0 tsp petrols. Later replaced with the DQ381 7 speed wet clutch box.

I don’t see why skoda would type approve the car with 2 types of box for the same engine, when the DQ250 is massively overkill for the engine power.

Wikipedia seems to back up what I’ve said above.

Only 1.4 that came with a 6 speed is the PHEV which I don’t think they did in that shape Octavia - but that’s the DQ400E specifically designed for hybrid applications.

Oh and apparently the Yeti 1.4 tsi 4x4 due to 4wd system and for some odd reason the 1.4 kodiaq got the dq250 box

I can confirm that mine has a 7 Speed box, not 6 as originally suggested.
E7 appeared in the dash display over 50 mph this morning. Never noticed
that before !

I'll be booking an appointment at Specsavers when I find my glasses ;->
Sorry for the error.

It also appears that the DQ series of autoboxes are Skoda's own,
not bought in from the likes of ZF or Borg-Warner, so I am slightly
inclined to believe the "no service schedule" claim.

I'll have a chat with my local auto gearbox specialist to see if they
agree with Skoda's claims.
