R32 or Audi S3....???

I've just paid £18k for a 8-month old BMW 130i, 5 door, with 1700 miles (yes seventeen hundred).
From a main dealer.
It's the 'efficient dynamics' version which means 197g C02, 34.0 mpg combined.
Makes a £30k S3 seem very expensive, no?
This is what I would opt for! From a main dealer.

The 130i sounds fantastic and they're bloody quick too.
Hellooo!!
OK...I have crossed the R32 off! As they have been discontinued, and they have stopped making that V6 engine. AND the new mark6 golf will be out soon! So the R32's OFF THE LIST!
SO its the Audi S3 OR the BMW 135iM the 1 series coupe, its a straight 6, 3L twin turbo! 0-62 in 5.3secs!!

As delivered, I'd take the S3 personally, purely from technical and driver appeal preferences.
The badge doesn't intersest me, but it does have certain benefits for keener drivers, over the R32.
It's (much) lighter over the front wheels, so less prone to understeer. It has sportier spring and damper rates and I think Delphi's excellent Magnetic dampers are an option too, which VW currently don't offer? And that engine is a peach, especially if you are wanting to extract more grunt from it (what turbo engine owner doesn't?)
To my eyes, the S3 is a complete driver's car, whereas I view the Golf as, well, just a Golf with a big engine in it because externally and internally, that's exactly how it comes across.....until you invoke the metallic bark from the exhaust. And the R32 has the most horrendous fly by wire mapping I've experienced.
The R32 though, in a long tradition of VW hot hatches is just a blank canvas for you to build upon..... they are capable of so much more.
