Patek V Brequet
Discussion
I have the option on a pre owned 2007 Patek Aquanaut 5066A with box no papers. However watch just been serviced by Patek and is from a reputable high end jewelers.
Other choice is a brand new Brequet Marine large date with black face.
Love both of them, just undecided both are around the same money gave or take £500.00
Even though the Patek as just been serviced am unsure on lack of other history on a 10 year old watch.
Appreciate opinions.

As the Patek is over 5 years old, you can obtain (for a price) an Extract From The Archives, which is the second best bit of paper after the Certificate Of Origin.
Against the Breguet – the Patek will retain more of its value, so the former would need to be bought at the right price to ensure you didn’t lose a chunk if you ever needed to sell it.
Against the Patek, the Breguet will hold its own as far as looks and movement finishing is concerned – what difference there may be (as viewed under a 10x loupe) will be pretty much negligible.
Other than that, go with what looks the best or appeals the most from a features and size/wearability POV – forget about the brand name on the dial, it’s secondary to what you’ll spend 95%+ of your time looking at when wearing it or sat in the watch box.

Agree with PJ S points. You mentioned there is a box but not papers - what evidence is there of a recent service on the Patek as there should be paperwork for this.
My personal opinion is that the 5066 is probably the most unrefined Patek there is, the dial is too busy and cluttered particularly around the date window. The way the strap sits between the lugs, it just looks poorly thought out and completely at odds with the Patek brand. Look at the 5167 in comparison, the difference is night and day.
Its not very sought after for those reasons, and who knows that may even make it a future classic in terms of value but if it's a watch to be worn and appreciated for it's aesthetics, I'd take the Breguet.

stunning, just doing the man maths on the gold one.
If not will be the black face steel one.
Have seen a pre owned one with a blue rubber strap and blue face, believe you cannot get a new one in blue now.
I have a blue faced Marine with a blue strap - wearing it today in fact. You're right, you can't buy them new anymore - I enquired when I got mine a few years ago. A second hand one came up in Milan, we flew there for the weekend and bought an immaculate example for a very decent price (exchange rate was better then). If not will be the black face steel one.

I love mine, so highly recommended!
