Remapping audi TT
Discussion
I had my S3 remapped at AmD a couple of years ago and it's been excellent. Make sure you get it done somewhere reputable and you should be fine. A full rolling road remap will allow them to check the car is in good health before doing the map. Really transforms the car, well worth it
The 1.8T 20V engine is extremely tough and can take a remap with no problem at all. In fact they can be tuned to 350bhp or more with no internal mods and still be reliable.
The clutch is going to get more of a beating, so you need to be realistic about clutch life. But still, if everything is all in good condition to begin with, you wont have any problems for a long long time. The only things that are likely to fail are likely the same things that may also fail on a bog standard engine.
I have good experience using JabbaSport and i'd certainly recommend them and use them again myself.

P,
We've done hundreds of maps on various 1.8T engined cars with extremely good results. Don't go for any of the silly gains advertised in the back of Redline etc. and make sure car is in good health first (any decent tuner will at least do an ECU fault log/test drive).
If anything goes wrong or some loony with a laptop does the map then the ECU will simply call a halt to proceedings and let you know by turning the dashboard into a christmas tree.

What did you do about insurance?
Well, I asked Elephant (my insurers at the time) how it would change the premium. First they quoted me double! Then, after I explained it was a remap rather than a replacement chip, they explained that remapping was more risky than chipping and would not insure me at all!!! Needless to say they don't have a clue when it comes to this stuff. Then I called Greenlight Insurance (brokers) who specialise in modified car insurance and they were a breath of fresh air. Chap on the phone had a remapped Golf GTI himself and was friendly and got me a quote better than Elephant managed for the standard car. Ever since then I have not found anywhere that can get close to the Greenlight prices. Highly recommended.http://www.greenlightinsurance.com/
For the remap, call APS and talk to Ed. They are really great and use the chap who used to do all the remapping at AmD:

OK I'm very biased but I'd be happy with a Revo map on my car (if it didn't have fuel injection designed by Fred Flintstone).
5 hour free trial and 28 days to ask for your money back if you hate it.
revo maps are not bad. i had a trial although i never purchased it. 5 hour free trial and 28 days to ask for your money back if you hate it.
the maps have a small power band where you get a massive surge at 2000then it fades just before 4000.
depending on what you want, a custom code map may be better to also suit other mods.
not sure about the amd as i never used this
