Evening all, I'm hoping someone can assist by recommending a place to buy 'performance' pads for my Mk2 Golf. After a little bit of research, I've narrowed it down to either the Mintex 1144s or the Ferodo DS2500 pads as those that can endure a little abuse on the track, but also work when cold!
It's a Mk2 GTD but has been fitted with the 239mm vented disks from the 8v GTI of the same era, but apart from that, no other brake upgrades.
I'm planning on changing the fluid and fitting new pads in the next couple of weeks before I head off to Germany, but I can't find anywhere to get the pads... The local motor factors can supply the Mintex ones...in 6 weeks time, but I'm heading off in 4.
Any advice/recommendations of suppliers greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Thomas

Have you tried Rallye Design?

Have had problems getting Mintex pads before though tbh, seem to go out of stock quickly then take ages to come back in. Worth a call though.

M4tthew, you are a scholar and a gentleman sir. I shall give them a bell tomorrow just to establish they're suitable for my disks and then find a weekend to fit them!
Thanks,

Thomas

DS2500's. The only down side is the dust.

I ran them all round for 40,000 miles and 5 track days and was very impressed with them. There will be another set going on the car very soon smile

Got them from these chaps.

I'd rather go for EBC Redstuff. I fitted a set to my 1999 A4 1.8T Quattro and could not get them to fade on my recent track day at Oulton Park. They have excellent grab from cold and after the trackday there was virtually no brake dust on the wheels! Highly recommended! Mike

Cheers for all the advice gents. MonkeyHanger, I went with your recommendation, and can heartily recommend ASP Performance. Very helpful over the phone, and I got my new DS2500s by courier this morning for less than the price on the side of the box.
I'll let you know how I get on with them in Germany!
Thanks,

Thomas

Having just returned from Germany, I can say that I'm very impressed with the performance of the Ferodo pads. They work well when cold, and the more heat you appply, the better they seemed to get!
Survived four laps with not a hint of complaint or sign of fade (which is more than can be said for my tyres).
Cheers all,

Thomas

About £70 delivered from ASP perfomance as recommended by Monkey Hanger. Very helpful guy at the end of the phone as well.

Cheers,
