Hi all.

I've just been given an Audi A5 as a courtesy car while my car is in for repair. Last night was the first time i got to use it on the motorway, and couldn't believe how juddery it felt whilst cruising at around 80 ish. It's fine under acceleration, but as soon as you ease off to maintain a speed it feels as though it has a slight misfire. It seamed worse when driving at speed on one of those concrete dual carriage ways. Stupid question but is this normal? Or can it simply be a little bouncy on uneven bit's of the road?? Usually wouldn't worry when it's a courtesy car but i have a fair old drive this weekend and thought i'd get some thoughts from the PH collective before i go and ruin it.

Car is an A5 3.0 TDi QUATTRO only covered 300 miles. And, apart from this niggle it's an awesome car.

  • The actual juddering is not so severe that it effects the driving but it is noticeable. Sorry if my questions sound a bit dim, but this is the most complicated car i have ever driven, took me a day to work out the hand brake (no handbook left with car)smile
Thanks,

FG

Quite the opposite Ive had mt A5 diesel 2 months now and found it the smoothest car when cruising I have ever had and that seems the general consensus on the A5/S5 Forum

Obviously they are very different vehicles from the VAG empire, but I have had two Golf 2.0 TDIs that have suffered from the same affliction that you are talking about: At around 80mph or 2,500 rpm there was some juddering as I eased off the accelerator. The first remailed undiagnosed, but the second was down to a slipping clutch. Hope that helps.
