MK2 1.6 carb????
Discussion
hi, i am wondering if anybody can help me? i have a golf mk2 1.6 8V CL. i am in the process of bringing the car back to life as it was left to rot in the grass for the last 5 years after my grandfather died. the only thing missing from the engine now to get it started is the carb, which was robbed off it at some point, but i am finding them hard to come by. any help would be much appreciated? ![smile](/inc/images/smile.gif)

think the idea of the webber 32/34 is it is a direct replacement, you can get webber carbs with bigger jets like a 32/36 twin choke or a 40 but these then require a full set up.
The biggest change is going from a automatic choke to a manual choke so a choke cable needs to be run to the dashboard. There is a blank to the left hand side of the steering wheel which can house the choke adjuster.
For more info try vwgolfmk2.co.uk as there are some very helpful people on there who know there carbs!

When fitting a weber, you lose the auto choke, so you will have to run a choke cable into the passenger cell.
The weber kit comes with everything that you need, and is quite a straight forward swap. The most difficult aspect would be setting it up.
BTW I will be breaking a MK2 1.8 driver in the very near future.;)
