I have a 2007 A6 Quattro Diesel with tiptronic gearbox. On average all driving I am getting 34.6mpg. On a long run on motorways with some a and b roads I can get 42mpg.

I have an A8L with said engine and regularly get mid 40's on a run and 40ish around town. Remap helps of course.

Hi Nick, how's things?

Chipped UK via Turner Racing Developments. Just done a mate's VW Caravelle as well. Up from 174bhp to about 210, economy has just gone up to 40mpg as well.

I have a 3.0 TDI A4 avant quattro and in the last 21,000 miles since purchase the car is showing 33.2mpg, mixed driving but a lot in town and on country roads. I love the engines torque something like 400 lbs/ ft, instant over taking ability without any effort.

Car now for sale on Pistonheads advert (no link so hopefully moderators wont get upset) section as I have just ordered a new a6 avant 3.0 di quattro lemans and got 25% off the list price

The engines are great!

Go for it, performance diesels are brilliant

Hi Richard

Thinks are good thanks, started a new job in November so I am hanging onto the A6 for a while. The only car that would suit me more is a new A6 (i like the A8 but is just a bit too big), but the lack of a merket has made me decide to hand onto this one, although I am now doing about 1000 miles per week!

I hope business is holding up for you.

Nick

I have a 3.0 TDi Lemans Quattro. I love it, good choice. (be ready for expensive tyres though!)

You guys arent driving them properly rolleyes

Ive had a new A4 3.0 tdi quattro on loan for 6 weeks while my car is in for some warranty work. Managed to get the mpg down to 27/28 regualarly when I found the 'sport' button wink

My 'normal' driving (town and motorway) averaged at early to mid 30's, and about 38-40mpg on the one long motorway run I did smile

I have an Audi a6 saloon 3.0tdi (tiptronic)

28mpg round town
40mpg fast A road/ motorway
46mpg (!) congested motorway - ie when I can only do 60.

Very, very happy with it. Epic mile muncher.

Trust me...mine is driven properly! But on motorway I cruise at 80 leptons.

Good luck with the new job and glad you are hanging onto the A6. My A8 just seems to get better and better, ideal for today's conditions.
Business is good, even had to pick up a major celeb last week who managed to top the charts yesterday!!! Hopefully that will lead to greater things.

My car is the A4 DTM (so, the 2.0T but in tuned guise) and I was interested to drive the 3.0 tdi for a while as Im looking for a replacement.

The diesel is (just) more economical. It also feels smoother (I find the 4 cylinder engines quite raucous) and with all the torque, it feels brawnier. The diesel is a quick cruiser/GT car...

BUT...its not a sports car IMO. The 2.0t feels much sportier (Im not saying it is necessarily a nicer engine) and lighter (that probably has a lot to do with the old and new models)

The conclusion I came to for my next car (if I remain with Audi), as I dont have to watch the mpg too closely, and I want a 6 cylinder, the petrol 3.2 is probably the way forward.
