I've had mine just over a month (and seem to be putting mileage on it quite rapidly). They're not to everyone's taste, but it gets a lot of looks everywhere, probably as there's not a huge number on the road. I went for a 2.0TSI, with all the trimmings, bar the DSG box which I later tested in the mk6 Golf GTI, and really didn't like[1].

Performance I found to be good; 1st gear is a bit too short, but in 2nd and 3rd it pulls quite hard. Economy wise, it'll sit on the Motorway, in comfort setting, super quiet, and get 35-38mpg. In sport mode it's a bit firm, but that's to be expected. The handling I found to be very good for FWD, it occasionally has a bit of push if you apply some beans exiting a corner, but it wont rip your arms off.

The rear visibility is quite shocking to start with, but the side mirrors are big enough to compensate I found (the optical parking sensors are useful).

[1] Regarding the DSG, it's a perfectly good transmission, but I found it lacking any driver involvement. On up-changes it was almost too smooth, and the moment you start to brake, it shoots down through the gears a la full automatic, so you don't seem to get the control you'd have thought. Just my 2p worth, I know some people love them, but I really couldn't get along with it, it was a million miles away from the F360 F1 I had a go in a few years back.

i got a 1.4tsi at the end of march, leather and nav in rising blue. to be honest its my ideal car at the moment. well built, comfy, decent handling and fairly nippy. The only thing that slightly disappoints me so far is the economy, i am averaging about 36 mpg overall. I have had it as high as 50mpg on a deliberately fuel efficient 13mile trip to work(boring) and 42mpg on a 160 mile mostly a road run.

plus i have the mx5 when i feel like tooling around

Lots on the scirocco on www.scirocconet.co.uk. All are obviously a bit bias on there but generally good feedback. Some small electrical niggles and rattles reported. As for mpg manufacturers figures all seem a bit higher that what is achievable on average. All report a good response to the car and put up against the golf 6 it does look like a bargain thus the reported long order times.

Hi there,

Picked my Scirocco up on 6th May, its the 2.0 Tdi GT (140ps).
so far it has done about 5500 miles and I am loving every minute.

Went from Derby to Goodwood and back on Saturday, a total distance of 450 miles and according to the trip computer I had an average speed of 61mph (bearing in mind loads of traffic at Goodwood end) and an average MPG of 54.7.

Superb car, buy one you won't regret it.

Havent got one, but from driving Golfs that share the same parts and sitting in the Scirocco, I reckon its one of the best cars you can buy.

I have been lucky enough to have had a Scirroco on Demo for a few days, followed by the new MK6 GTi (It's a tough life sometimes). I love the scirroco, it is an absolute hoot to drive. The only negative for me was; I struggled to get a good sitting position, I have long legs and with the seat low it was a stretch to the wheel, with the seat higher, the reach was ok but my legs didn't fit under the column (yes the column does adjust for height and reach. compared to the GTi, it feels edgier and I would be more tiring on a long trip. It feels like it is saying come on, give more throttle, what kind of pussy are you! The GTi is bit less frenetic on day to day driving, but doesn't feel as special.. Both of them handle extremly well. which one will I get? Not sure yet, head says Golf, heart says Scirroco!

borrowed a 2.0TDi from VW's press fleet - great car sadly let down by weight and odd gear ratios

the 2.0 TSI should have enough grunt to get the chassis working

Picked mine up on Sunday the 1st March, went with the 2.0TSI GT in Rising Blue. Only added DAB Radio and Premium Mats & Metallic Paint. Now done just under 4000 miles in it and have loved every minute!!!! The rear view takes a small period to get used to but its not a problem. 3rd gear with full beans is my favourite. Really funky look to it which gets plenty of looks however there are some people who don't get it. This is my first new car purchase and all in all I'm very happy with it. The dealer has been great
the mpg is good, seats are very supportive and sporty. Love the switchable settings, have it on Comfort for the M-Way and Sport for the B-Roads. If you buy one I'm sure you will be happy.
