2014 Golf R - A great all rounder
Discussion
Took delivery of a new 5 door, DSG Golf R last week as a new family car.
What a car, ordered without driving and am very, very impressed. One of the best allround cars I've driven in a long time at this price point.
The wife loves it as a nice comfy ride and she loves the smooth auto box and the ACC.
I love the fact it pulls really well in any gear and handles really well for what it is. As a manual for hard the DSG box has won me over, the paddles on the wheel are fuctarded though, caught me out a few times on quick exits from roundabouts.
Still only 200 miles on clock but it's been driven fairly hard from brand new (when I drive it anyway) so it's already run in ;-)
I think VW were very conservative with the 0-60 time. Launched in the traffic light sprint I have recorded a 0-60 time of 4.495 seconds. Not too shabby for a standard hatch.
Anyone who's in the market for a new 5 door hatch I would highly recommend one.
