Mk6 Golf Engine Warning light
Discussion
Hey all,
I've got a Mk6 Golf Diesel 1.6 105ps - It's on around 40k miles, and I use it for station commuting (And we also do long journeys in it relatively often, DPFers)
Yesterday I was about 10 minutes into my drive when the engine warning light came on
http://www.volkswagen.co.uk/owners/warning-light/d...
There was no change in engine sound, everything seemed fine except that the car had obviously had its power limited, like it had a maximum rpm of 2500 and everything had been slightly scaled back. If you drove with low revs though, everything seemed fine.
That evening, it was fine again, until about 10 minutes into the drive again (out of a 15 minute drive). This morning it happened much sooner, after about 3 minutes.
Obviously, I need to take it to a dealer, but I was wondering if anyone had seen this before on this engine?
I'm assuming it's a sensor of some kind not working properly?
Thanks.

Are VW contributing to that?
I'm not sure EGR cooler is the same as EGR valve but that's common on these at over a grand. I wouldn't run a diesel without some sort of warranty cover.
I've not asked, but I wouldn't assume they would, the car is 60 plate and I think the regular warranty is only 3 years. Perhaps I should get an extended warranty. hmm.
