Golf 2.8 V6 4 Motion Opinions

Hi all,
Just wondering if I can get people's opinions on what these are like to drive. Not too bothered about cruising on motorway as not going to be doing much of that this year but am interested in these cause they seem good value £7000ish with 40k miles 2001, like the idea of a v6 and also the fact that its not front drive only as may take it to a very occasional (1/2 per year) track day.
Anyway... any opinions would be greatly apreciated! Also are they the equivilent of the modern R32?
