I went to get some new tyres today and was duely informed that I have a cracked alloy wheel. Audi have quoted £610-00 for a new one...... uch: Anyone know of anywhere cheaper...... I've looked on the Bay and apart from the replicas there's not much out there.....
Another question would be are the replicas any good.... I can get a whole set cheaper.....

I've seen the crack and it's on the inside of the rim. You can see it with the tyre on but it's clearer with it off. The odd thing is that I've mentioned to Audi twice that there is a small amount of vibration in the steering wheel (Mrs K Notices it more than I do to be honest) but they've never found anything wrong. I suspect that the crack has been there since I bought the car 18 months ago and the main dealer just hasn't really looked hard enough (It was the boys at Micheldever tyres that spotted it) I've bit the bullet and ordered a rim but I think tomorrow that I'll put the order on hold and explore getting the rim looked at by someone else.
The guys at Micheldever tyres said they've seen lots of cracked alloys on RS model Audi's. They were not very complimentary about them in all fairness saying it's not the sort of thing you'd expect on a car like this.
I've bitten the bullet and ordered a new rim, which I pick up in the morning. I know that the wheel has been damaged since I bought the car but you can bet Audi will not pay anything towards it now.
