MK2 Newbie help!

Hello all. I am new to this sort of thing and was wondering if anyone out there could help me out.
I've just bought a 1989 MK2 Golf GTi 8v. I love the car but not the 4 headlamp set up. I'm wanting to convert it to single headlamps as i think these look much cleaner but can't find any information on how to do it!
Is it just a case of buying a single headlamp grille and taking out the inner lights? If so, how do i get highbeams/flashers to work with te remaining outer lgihts?
Sorry for all the questions. If theres anyone out there who knows how to do this or has done it and can give me a quick step-by-step i'd be eternally greatfull!

Sweet. Thanks for that guys. Don't get me wrong, nothing against 4 lamps, just prefer the 2 look. Will get on the search for single badgeless grille then! One final thing, will it get through MOT without highbeams previously provided by then inner lamps? Cheers.
