Changing brakes, Golf Mk4 GTI

Golf GTI 1999 1.8T
Has anybody changed the brake pads and disks on their car.
Thinking about doing my own.
Any problems I may come across.
Dont really want to be paying somebody to do it.

Thanks for that, I have done pad and disc changes before but was just wondering if there are any particular problems with this car.
Going away for four months now so I suppose the car will have to sit and wait.
