My son's Polo 1.4 16 valve petrol engine requires a cambelt change.

The specialist who usually services the car advised that as it has a twin-cam engine it needs two belts and the change will cost him £380. I told him to ring the VW dealer who said that it had one belt and the change would cost him £240. He can't decide which way to go and I don't know enough about it to help him make a decision.

The car is registered in Dec 2000 on an X plate.

Advice appreciated

Paul

I know that a 2004 1.4 16v has two belts, but I'm not sure about your year.
I will check at work on Monday and post, If no one gives a definite answer in the mean time.
I would say £380 is over the top either way.
Thanks smile
