Heater blowing hot air
Discussion
I took the valve out of mine a while back and made sure it was closed, it was however easy to blow air through it still so I guess it's either knacked or they're not upto the job. TVR wanted something like 70 quid for a new one which I didn't go for as they look so flimsy and I couldn't see it lasting long. So if you find an alternative can you post it up on here as I'd be interested. I'll get round to looking myself once I get a bit of free time. I know some on here get cold air but I'd imagine that generally most don't, just guessing tho.
I've managed to find the original part, or what mine was anyway lol. It was from a MK1 Golf, I bought mine from GSFcarparts.com and was the only £9.50 plus VAT, better than the £70 TVR wanted. You do have to drill and small hole it and chop it cut of the VW mounting but that takes only a few minutes. The old valve you could blow through even when fully closed but the new one seems air tight so hopefully water tight. I made sure it was fully closed but the fan still blow warm air, much better than the very hot air they were blowing before though.
This is the old heater valve
This is the new heater valve as it comes
This is the old and new heater valve after I drilled the hole and cut the end off, the hole in the centre also needs to be enlarged, I used a 4mm drill which did the job fine

Cheers Paul, good work.
Just ordered mine...though was more expensive than Seasider's....must find out where he goes for discount training
Will fit and see what difference it makes...mine certainly does not stop hot water coming through - may slow it but stop? NO.
Anyone know what the dash switches are from for the up/down control and outside air/recirculate? Mine just spin round without stopping
Virgil.

I think mine was about £16 inc post and packing so could also do with Seasider's training too. My up and down control also spins round without stopping so if you find the part number let me know
