THE want for MORE POWER !!!!!!!!!! Best option????
Discussion
If i was to acheive more power from my pre-cat, would i be better in fitting a 500 straight in, or do i go 4.0 and change the cam/stroke/pistons to make it 4.3 and fit BVH'S ???
This is not my field so i'd like some advice please.
I really dont want to sell her and go looking again, so thats not an option.....
Many thanks in advance.

These manifolds looks like a bit of a bargain and I'm pretty sure they do indeed yield some good gains:

Do you know the bhp of the precat? The simplest option here would be changing to a 500 engine but really it'd be best to know where you will end up as a unhealthy 500 isn't better than a (very) healthy 400 and would give not as smooth (mid range torque surge) a delivery. In your position I'd go for a good (like stage 3 or 4) 4.5 or so, with all the nice extras from a reputable engine builder. Possibly also supercharge, depending on power aspirations and budget limitations. Alternatively, I'd look into a Chevy LS conversion, but rumour has it these are more expensive than people who haven't done it think.
A lot of the options people will throw at you involve the pre-serp vs serp conundrums... New/old front cover, crank length, swirl pot location....
If just wanting to bolt in a crank, there are 80mm cranks as used in the 4.5BV available, whether Dom still has pistons/rods to suit would be another matter? Well balanced 4.5 bottom end and nicely done UBV heads with suitable breathing is the most appealing if you wish to keep everything else standard I suppose?

Just. Supercharge it , job done
can you supercharge the pre-cat/pre-serp?depends how deep the OP's pockets are, what he hopes to achieve etc etc etc
Most important number though is the one with the pound sign in front of it. you won't get far with a few pounds for instance.
The SC Power Superchargers are supposed to be particularly effective on the 4 litre cars.
