What have you done in your garage...?

The bonnet stay has always been a PITA and the final straw was it falling from the inner wing during a run back from Loton Park and pressing against the swirl pot overflow pipe effectively blocking it completely.
I decided to cobble a new stay:

On a related matter - I was a little unhappy with the crusty rusty wing bracket (which seems common) so made up my own.
Drilled out the rivets, replaced with rubber well nuts and stainless M3 button head bolts and finished off with an inlay of Viton to stop the stay end 'grinding' off the paintwork (though I think I have seen some original brackets with a lower piece).
Pics of the original nut wells - the final rubber head thickness was reduced to 1mm.

Thanks Paul - sourced the M3s from here -http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/151850146231?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
though plenty of options online, and cheaper am sure. The head was not perfect for the job so had to slice through with a scalpel to reduce thickness. Impressed with the nuts nontheless, and easily removable too. Drill hole for these were 6.5mm.

Its that chatter on the overrun Peter at about 1500 / 1700 rpm. The 5ltr's are famous for it. Consensus is that it is piston to pin so hopefully new pistons and pins will sort it; well they better had Cant put up with it any longer.
Think i'm going for Powers 885 cam as
