You need red ones as they are better than white.

Fitted these brakelight LEDs myself with the help of a broom and they really are much much brighter http://www.car-mod-shop.co.uk/566cree-5r-baz15d-56...

Quality upgrade thanks for the link
Do you have a similar path to the waterproof LED strips for the number plate lighting as some have done on this thread as mine is woefully dim which may or may not be a bad thing
I've looked at LED strips for the garage lighting and it is available in a lot of different brightnesses (including at the same power input) so just be on your guard. Unfortunately I don't know what you need.
The chaps I used were very good, supplied finished strips cut to length with wires fitted ready to use but not sure they will be interested for the little length you need for the number plate. They also have good info on their site about LED strip, link

Thanks Rob perhaps someone else can give a steer on the led strips to an electrical numpty
Anyway, as FFG made it so easy (thanks for the linky stuff) I've ordered the tail lights now too as I'm sooo impressed with the brake lights.
Ha ha my 21 year old Griff will have a brighter rear end than a new car and still wont look like someone's left the grill on

Take your pic - http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/sis.html?_nkw=17cm+Water...
Plenty of choice. 2 x 17cm or a single strip.
Get a festoon adapter or make up your own wiring/plug with something like this...

So where do the wires from the DRLs plug into? The original festoon bulbs, via an adaptor?
Yep - that's correct. The first link is to the leds, the second to the adapters - which fit to the original two number plate lights.Edited by Podie on Tuesday 7th March 18:39

Get 2 and Swap out both your number plate bulbs for them.http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/sis.html?_nkw=1%2F5x+Car...

Cannibalise one for the number plate LED strip mod
Use the other as it comes out of the box and just put a bit of Velcro on the back of the square of LEDs. Stick it to the boot carpet and you have a bright boot light which comes on with your lights and is cold to the touch so you don't burn things in the boot on a hot bulb any more.

Great info about the rear light bulbs, thanks. I received mine today, fitted them as a straight swap out, and wow what a difference, very bright and visible even in daylight so now there's much less chance of being rear ended methinks. Haven't done the number plate lights tho but will wait until the MOT causes an issue.http://www.car-mod-shop.co.uk/566cree-5r-baz15d-56...

So impressed i've put them on my 1974 Land Rover too. Possibly the only vehicle with worse lights than a TVR.FFG
with apologies for the rubbish iphone pics, Original tail lights - then new and then with brakes. Number plate illumination stuff arrived today so that's next and I suspect a little more challenging than changing a bulb Top tip - if your tail lights look too bright, or like me one was brighter than the other, take the bulb out and turn it 180 degrees because that'll be the fog light setting
