Just out of curiosity, having cabin fever, I checked the Reg' seen on top of the dash of the Yellow Griff' and it's shared with two cars according to the DVLA Vehicle info' and MOT history pages.
One registered in Jan 1971 and the other registered in Jan 1992.
The Yellow Griff reg' is currently not assigned to anything, again DVLA.

Yes that's right on the Check if a Vehicle is taxed etc.
But
Have you put that reg' into the Check MOT history it says it is a TVR400SE reg' 1st Jan 1971.
Good to talk to you today, thanks for phoning me, I said I would call you back and forgot (old fart).

Just listed as a TVR on the vehicle check but yes it is listed as a 400SE on the MoT history page - this does tie up with it being a 400 not a 430 but the Wedge was 1980+ and the big V8's didn't come until maybe 1992ish, so where the 1971 date has come from? Myabe just an input error..But

I think the logbook for J768 CNW when I got it was registered as a 400SE or something similar. Defo wasn't shown as a Griff and was 2 axle rigid body.I had TVR 26S on the car for a fair time so some may have seen that around
It might have been shown as 4.3 but it was a while ago. I asked at the factory but getting it registered before it officially 'existed' was cited as an excuse for the 'creative' description

You're right Paul - mine was the very first productionised version of the car ever built, after the original blue 1990 Motor Show prototype, and was used for type approval of the model.
After appearing at the 1991 Motor Show, it then became the long term factory development car throughout the whole of Griffith production (see my profile for a brief history)
Al's car (old No 1's ex) appeared alongside mine at the motorshow and, after a brief stint as HHC's demonstrator, became the first customer car.
Just out of interest, my last 3 VIN numbers are 105 - although the V5 does give the registration date as 2/3/89!!
It carried the well known company registration mark 'TVR 100' until 1996,when it was re-registered as an 'F' reg (Interestingly, the original 1990 prototype, now destroyed, was also registered as an 'F' reg for some reason!)

My 400 chassis is 11799, it was registered 8/5/92. When I lifted the centre T it was signed by G Gill and dated 10/4/92. I will have to look under the dash sometime.
Using the TVR chassis info from MikeE the date is Feb 92 so it was hanging around the factory for a while.
