Maybe because its not what TVR call a BV? Valves should be 1.69"& 1.5" ~ looks like thats just a slightly modded std one.... I would have been a bit suspicious with the hydraulic valve train as well BTW. Begs the question seeing the valves look like Real Steel mod stuff whether the pistons are really forged or just some of those Ealsey omegas?
There looks to be like a 'real' 4.5 on flea-bay in Scotland, but you have to be very careful before parting with money on some of these things. Even if the block stamping is correct & real there is no guarantee that what they left Coventry with is still inside?

I have work on a Tuscan challenge engine from the factory and from the research I have carried out over the years this is what I have found.
When carrying out special engine builds and not used cast pistons, TVR only used Cosworth forged pistons
93.5mm in the early car like the wedges with standard rods.
Later switching to 94mm Cosworth forged pistons with H-beam rods for the Last of the 450SEAC race cars and Tuscan challenge cars.
The Tuscan Challenge race cars had special Cross bolted version of the small journal blocks with additional webbing.
The cranks are 80mm Icebreg cast cranks from the old BL Diesel project. Very strong castings.
Not steel
Tuscan challenge car engines also featured Four twin choke downdraught 48 carbs, Roller Rocker valve gear and a Dry sump system.
Omega pistons can only be source from John Eales Development for the Rover V8 engine.
I am currently using Omega pistons in a 4.5 BV engine I built and I am very happy with the results.
