Blimey, a wealth of information here (and the rest!). Steadily reading through the posts, and I have got back to June so far - I don't think I want to know how much further I have to go

Anyway, thinking about getting my first TVR. It's going to be a Chimaera 4.0 but at 24 years old and living in London insurance is going to be the issue more than finding a car. I just don't fancy the bog standard 'Sport' editions of the 306/206/Civic/BMW route friends have gone down and think I have found the answer that is right for me in a TVR. Got plenty of time to research before I go ahead and take the plunge but I really wanted to know if the "Chimaera and Griffith" book (spiral) is still in print, as I reckon this is the second place to start reading - after here of course

I am sure I will still have questions later, but the first one at the moment is - Is it better to buy a car in winter or summer. I assume prices are lower in winter but I guess it's easier to give the car a full test drive & inspection in the summer months. Just seen a few posts about the summer/winter thing with no real idea why.

Anyway, many thanks for the information in the forum & all photos, although all it has really done is make me want one even more !

Thanks for the answers, there are a couple of friends of friends (TVR owners) who I will speak to first, hopefully I will unearth an expert. If not the I might ask for loan of the book from a kind individual until I can pick one up

baggiero said: Hey DMA -
I took the plunge this year too - fantastic 4.3 Chim - awesome car and completely different league to the sport BM's etc as you say. - I've got a copy of the Steve Heath book (and live/work in central london) so you could have a loan if you like. Also, I used the services of Rob Ingelby when acquiring mine and I'm sure it was worth every penny (fixed fee until success, basically) - www.findasportscar.co.uk - he's a top bloke too!

Thanks for the offer, however I am going to take my time over this, so will hope to catch one of the new run of books on the next month or so. Excellent link there as well, I think I would feel 'safer' have a pro at hand when looking to buy so thanks there as well!
