late type radiator

ive discovered a v/slight weep from my radiator,which is no big deal in itself as luckily i can have replaced under warranty.tvr have given two choices to my local garage carrying out the work,which is old type(otter switch for fans on swirl pot),or,new type(built in fittment for an otter type switch on the rad itself).i fancy the latter,but are they directly interchangeable ie mounts,hoses etc?and could anyone tell me what type of switch it uses(part no if poss)so i can buy one from local motorfactors?

thanks for advice on ali rad chaps.unfortunately warranty co. wont stretch to that,so its back to my original questions if anyone out there can help please?

unfortunately i cant afford to pay extra to get an ali rad as mrs mongoose is v.tight with the purse strings at the mo,what with saving for le-mans,usual holliday,decorating......get the picture.so its still back to my original questions if anyone would be so kind!

update:im having an ali rad fitted after all,its all tvr do now so it wont cost me any extra either.there was a bit of confusion between my garage and someone at tvr about late spec.to clarify-only 1 type now available for griff and this does not have provision for an otter switch.if you want the otter switch in the rad,then you need a cerbera rad.according to tvr this fits no problem,but only with the different mounting rubbers (2 required),1 different hose,and 1 metal hose to hose joining pipe all supplied with rad,but only on request.ill be having this fitted on 2nd april and will post details of how fitting went that evening.i reckon itll be a great improvement on old set up,looking forward for some hot summer months to find out

firsly sorry fo later update than promised(i.s.p. problems).the cerbie rad fitted very straightforward with no probs using the extra bits mentioned above.ive two niggles though since installation.firsly,the new rad leaked worse than the old one! so is being replaced tomorrow.secondly i had hoped the otter switch would be on the outlet side of rad,but its on the inlet,so its not a great improvement on swirlpot location after all.it should still be an improvement of sorts as its not above manifold any longer,but just how much ill have to wait and see.ill probably use same/similar temp otter switch as is already fitted(98oc) to swirlpot as a starting point.

i never said the fan cuts in at 98-it cuts in just under 90 on the dash gauge.this seems ideal to me,just wanted one on the rad to avoid the false effects of heat from the manifold.no need for an adjustable one imho as once youve set it then your not going to change it anyway!also ive heard that adjustables are less reliable than fixed ones.
