If i was to acheive more power from my pre-cat, would i be better in fitting a 500 straight in, or do i go 4.0 and change the cam/stroke/pistons to make it 4.3 and fit BVH'S ???

This is not my field so i'd like some advice please.

I really dont want to sell her and go looking again, so thats not an option.....

Many thanks in advance.

Do you know the bhp of the precat? The simplest option here would be changing to a 500 engine but really it'd be best to know where you will end up as a unhealthy 500 isn't better than a (very) healthy 400 and would give not as smooth (mid range torque surge) a delivery.
Its very healthy indeed, ive been out with a few of my TVR mates, who are VERY suprised at the performance, kept up well with a T350C,CERB AND A TUSCAN plus i was two up in my GRIFF,may be slightly over fueling. I think before i make my mind up i will get it rolling roaded, but nitros seems to be the way...............

As i said unsure, but i wanted some ideas and thanks to all you guys.....

This is something i have never known.

My mate reacons by simply changing the crank and conrods, this can make it into 4.3 ????

If i buy a 4.0 block or 4.6 what do i do or get to obtain TVR power,i've even heard of vauxhall injectors etc is this a mith??

This is how i would Start if i had my time over again knowing what i know now !!!!

If i had a standard griff this is where i would start and with the benefit of hindsight the order i would do it in.

Junk the suspension and replace with Nitrons
Front springs 450lb rears 375lb
................................................................#### DONE ####

Bigger brake discs and four pot callipers.... i went to the extreme and went for 17" rims at the same time 330mm discs and AP Racing 4 pot callipers
........................................................ ### MASSIVE BILLET 4 POTS DONE ####

Then look at the Engine...........

Pasco bowtie

Some serious advice there Pasco, many many thanks.

P.S let me know how you end up with your engine ......

The chap i bought it from cost him £3k.....

He was selling up and his TVR had already gone, even the house was up for sale, it came complete with ecu and airflow meter. I got it for less than half he paid inc the engine stand.

So i brought it home and did a simple strip down and boy is it a good one, absolute no wear in the cylinders.

SPEC;

4.5 block stamped 1988/9 number 47A..... Also stamped TVR (4441cc)
Big Valve Head, fully gas flowed and ported
Steel crank
Omega forged pistons
ARP bolted
22LB balance flywheel
45mm trumpets
75mm plenum
TVR 435 cam
New lifters and 360 BHP clutch
Double valve springs
Oil cooler (which im going to sell)

X bolted too by the looks of itsmile. Bit of a clean and freshen up, and that should make a very nice motor...yes

Don't go spoiling it with a silly cam, and trying to get the absolute max BHP....... A nice clean revving engine with plenty of GRUNT is what suits the Griffs bestsmile
Leaving it as is Quinny....

Just a full check over and a good clean with plenty of powder coating bits etc

When you speak of steel crank it means Iceberg crank ? Or it is a special crank made by NCK ?
???? Not got that far yet, more internet reading required.....

Infact, it must be a special made crank to get the stroke ??
