if i where you i would swop the metro timing cover for the flattened mini one, the plastic fan catches the round one

its its easier to do now than later.....
Will the duplex vernier timing setup still fit behind the flattened mini one ?

No, you have to punch a dent in the case to stop the timing gear catching.

Or use a fan spacer.

you can use a fan spacer, but it rams the fan so far into the radiator space, you then run the risk of damaging the the rad

the flattened cover is the correct way to do it

I was imagining the scene from Austin Powers when he is trying the turn the electric golf cart thing round with 1 inch clearance via a 101 point turn!

Not a lot done until I can get the mini into the middle of the garage floor again. The shell needs wet sanding and compounding but space means I have only done the roof so far.

I had a few hours of free time this afternoon so decided to wet sand and machine compound the rear of the mini and the boot lid then fit them.

Russell I've got to stop reading your thread as it continues to make me very jealous! It's looking fantastic.

What wheels are you going to go for?

Not sure yet what wheels to go for. Im hoping as I start to reassemble everything it will make it easier to decide on the new wheels.

That machine polishing has added some real depth and luster to that colour, very, very nice. wink

Seeing it side on in the garage with the front clam popped-up is priceless.
